By the end of this the Atlas Cart Upsells app embed will be active on your theme and your cart drawer will appear. It takes under a minute. You need theme editing permission in Shopify.
Until the embed is on, your theme's own cart drawer keeps working and the Atlas drawer never shows, no matter how the drawer is configured.

The quickest way, from Atlas
Atlas prompts whenever it notices the embed is off, with the banner:
Atlas Custom Cart Drawer is not enabled on your published theme.
Enable it by clicking the 'Activate' button below and then 'Save' on the following page.
Select
Activate.Shopify's theme editor opens with the embed already switched on.
Select Save in the theme editor.
Return to Atlas and select
I have done it.
You can also start from the Theme extensions card on your dashboard, where Atlas Cart Upsells shows Active or Inactive with an Activate button.
⚠️ Pressing Save in the theme editor is what applies the change. Opening the editor turns the toggle on; closing without saving leaves the embed off.
Doing it manually
If the button does not open the right place, or you need a theme other than your published one:
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes.
Select Customize on the theme you want.
Open Theme settings, the gear icon at the top of the left panel.
Select App embeds.
Turn on
Atlas Cart Upsells.Select Save.
Confirming it worked
On your Atlas dashboard, check the Theme extensions card.
Atlas Cart Upsellsshould showActive.Open your storefront, add a product to the cart, and confirm the Atlas drawer opens rather than your theme's.
The drawer should carry whatever modules you enabled. If it opens but is empty of your modules, the embed is working and the drawer configuration is the thing to check.
Doing this for more than one theme
The embed is per theme. That matters when:
Situation | What to do |
You switch to a new theme | Enable the embed on it before publishing the theme |
You duplicate a theme to test changes | Confirm the copy has it before you publish the copy |
You install a theme update that replaces settings | Re-check afterwards |
⚠️ Publishing a theme without the embed silently reverts your store to its native cart drawer. Every upsell, the progress bar and shipping protection disappear at once, with no error anywhere. Enable the embed on the new theme while it is still unpublished.
If the drawer still does not appear
Confirm you saved in the theme editor.
Confirm the right theme. The Theme extensions card reports on your published theme and names it.
Confirm a drawer is active. The embed makes Atlas able to show a drawer; you still need one set to
Active. Only one can be active at a time.Check for another cart app. Only one app can own the cart drawer. Another cart or upsell app will conflict.
Clear caches and test in a private window.

If the embed is on and saved but Atlas still reports it inactive, contact support from the chat bubble in Atlas, or at support@helloatlas.io, with your store URL and theme name.
