Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies cleaning and staging a Landing home.
This covers the bedroom: the bed, nightstands, dresser, closet, and any bedroom TV. For how to make the bed, see How to Make a Landing Bed.
For the standard your work needs to meet, see Landing Cleaning Standards.
How do I clean the bedroom?
Work from the top down, so dust falls onto the floors you clean last.
Dust from the top down, including the ceiling fan, air vents, light fixtures, and the tops of the furniture. Dust the lampshades, use a lint roller to remove any hair, and turn each shade so the seam faces the wall.
Dust the blinds, and clean the windows, window sills, and door sills.
Clean the nightstands and dresser, inside and out. Open every drawer, vacuum and wipe inside, check the corners for debris, and wipe all surfaces. Drawers should be empty and clean.
Clean the mirror and any glass.
Check under the bed and behind the TV for dust, and clean there.
Clean the floors last. Vacuum, sweep, and mop, including under the bed.
How do I clean and stage the closet?
Each bedroom closet is part of the job.
Clear any debris from the closet shelves and floor.
Wipe down the shelves and clean the closet floor.
Check the closet door. Make sure it slides or folds on its track and closes properly. If it does not, report it with a maintenance request.
Push the velvet hangers together and space them evenly on the rod.
Fold the spare blanket and any linens neatly and store them on the shelf.
How do I make the bed?
Make the bed to Landing's standard. Every mattress must have a mattress cover fitted over the whole mattress. Make sure the sheets are straight and wrinkle free, and tuck the duvet in at the foot of the bed. For the full step-by-step, see How to Make a Landing Bed.
How do I set up the bedroom TV?
If the bedroom has a TV, connect it to the Landing WiFi network and sign out of any streaming apps, so the next member does not see the previous member's accounts. For how to connect, see Connecting the TV to WiFi.
How do I stage the bedroom?
Stage the bedroom to Landing's standard once it is clean.
Make sure the bed is perfectly made, with the pillows fluffed and the pillowcase ends tucked in.
Drape the decorative throw blanket over the bottom corner of the bed.
Place a lamp in the center of each nightstand, facing forward, with the shade seam facing the wall.
Plug the lamp cords into the wall outlet behind the nightstand, not into the nightstand's own outlets, and hide the cords so they are not visible from the front. Keep the nightstand outlets free for the member.
Check the bulbs are 60W, 2700K warm white. If a lamp does not have the right bulb, chat in to Landing.
Place the remote on the nightstand, and the flashlight in the nightstand drawer.
Take a photo of the fully staged bedroom.
What if something is damaged, missing, or needs maintenance?
Check that the bed frame, nightstands, and dresser are sturdy and do not wobble. Regular wear and tear is expected, so you do not need to report it. If you see major damage, or something is missing, create a maintenance ticket so Landing can handle it, choosing the issue type that fits, such as "Missing or Damaged Furniture" or "Missing or Damaged Housewares."
Report any other maintenance issue the same way, such as a problem with the lighting, an outlet, a door or lock, the window or blinds, or the TV, choosing the matching issue type. See Making a Maintenance Request for how to submit one.
