Utility Activation - Internet

Use this article when you have a Utility Activation - Internet job in the Host App. It covers what the job is about, what to bring, what you should never skip, and what to do if something is not right.

Who this is for: Hosts who claim internet installation jobs.

What is this job about?

You let an internet company's technician into a Landing home, stay with them while they install the internet, and confirm the WiFi works before you leave. The company is named in the job description.

The technician can arrive at any point during the job window, so plan to stay for the whole length of the job. A member of Landing's Utilities Team may contact you if the technician calls ahead. See Landing WiFi.

What do I need before I start?

Before you head to the home, check you have everything in this table.

Credential

General Host credential

How long it takes

About 3 hours, the full job window

What to bring

An iPhone or Android smartphone, charged

Access

Read the access instructions in your job before you go. See Getting In.

Don't skip these

Complete every task in the Host App as instructed, and upload the photos each task asks for. A job is not complete until every task is done. Pay particular attention to these:

  1. "Did the Tech Arrive?" If the technician does not arrive during your job window, let Landing know through the chat. Not doing so can add a strike.

  2. "Set Credentials." Before the technician leaves, ask them to set the WiFi network name and password to the ones listed in the task.

  3. "WIfi Speed Test Form." Turn off your cellular data, connect your phone to the Landing network, run a speed test, and upload a screenshot. The job is not complete or paid until this form is done.

  4. "Take a Picture of the Router." Upload a clear photo of the router showing the MAC address and WiFi details.

What if something is not right?

The technician cannot set the network name and password. Let Landing know through the chat, and enter the credentials they did set in the task's text box.

The internet could not be installed, or there was another problem. Describe what happened in "Any Issues?" and let Landing know through the chat.

A TV will not connect to the new network. See Connecting the TV to WiFi, and let Landing know if it still will not connect.
