Some men report increased irritability, mood swings, or short bursts of aggression while on fertility treatment. These changes are usually temporary and can often be managed easily.

Why It Happens

  • These symptoms are commonly linked to spikes in estrogen caused by hormonal stimulation.

  • Rapid hormonal changes can affect neurotransmitters and mood regulation.

What You Can Do

1. Practice Mindfulness or Meditation

Daily mindfulness practices—even just 5–10 minutes—can reduce emotional reactivity and help with self-regulation.

2. Regular Physical Activity

Cardio or weight training can stabilise mood and reduce agitation. Exercise supports healthy hormone balance.

3. Sleep & Nutrition

Lack of sleep or poor nutrition can worsen mood issues. Aim for consistent sleep, whole foods, and hydration.

4. Consider Dose Adjustments

Speak with your prescribing doctor about:

  • Using smaller, more frequent doses to reduce hormonal peaks and crashes.

  • Adjusting your treatment schedule based on symptoms and bloodwork.

When to Contact Your Doctor

  • If mood swings are severe, persistent, or affecting your relationships

  • If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or having trouble functioning normally

Your doctor may adjust the dose or suggest further blood testing to check estrogen levels.

Mood changes on fertility treatment are usually related to estrogen spikes and can be managed with mindfulness, consistent routines, and possibly changing your dosing schedule.

If symptoms feel disruptive, contact your doctor through your portal.
