Hormonal changes from fertility treatment can sometimes cause acne or increased oil production, especially in the early weeks or when dosage increases.

Why It Happens

  • Hormone therapy may raise androgen levels, which can stimulate oil glands and clog pores.

  • This is most common on the face, chest, shoulders, and back.

What You Can Do

These strategies can help reduce acne severity and oiliness:

1. Diet & Nutrition

  • Reduce sugar and refined carbs

  • Limit dairy and high-oil foods

  • Stay well-hydrated

2. Skin & Clothing Habits

  • Shower after sweating (especially after gym or hot days)

  • Use gentle cleansers, not harsh scrubs

  • Wear breathable cotton clothing instead of synthetic fabrics like polyester

  • Avoid tight clothing that traps sweat and oil

3. Lifestyle

  • Don’t smoke—this can worsen skin health

  • Give it time—your body may adapt within 6–12 weeks

4. Supplements

  • Some patients find high-dose Vitamin B5 (2000mg, 4x per day) helps reduce oil production, though this is optional and should be discussed with your doctor.

When to Contact Your Doctor

  • If acne becomes severe, painful, or persistent

  • If you notice large cysts or signs of infection

Acne and oily skin are common during hormonal shifts. They can often be reduced through diet, hygiene, clothing choices, and sometimes supplements. In most cases, symptoms improve with time.
