The Secondary Injuries page has been designed to help capture required data for Tasmanian self-insurance claims. The page can be found under the Claim Management section in the side menu of a record.
This article will guide you through how to add a Secondary Injury to ensure compliance with NIDS 8.1.
Once you enter a Secondary Injury record, the details will be included in your next submission file to the regulator.
Add a Secondary Injury
You can add a Secondary Injury by selecting the option from the Add Information drop-down, which is visible on the Summary page or by navigating to the Secondary Injuries page within the Claim Management sub-menu and selecting the blue Add button located in the top-right corner of the page.

Once you've selected to add a new record a page will appear for you to enter the required information.
Field Name | Definition |
Diagnosis | The Diagnosis field is a date picker. Use this to enter the Date of Secondary Injury diagnosis. |
Liability Status | This field can be used to indicate the latest liability status of a Secondary Injury. One of the following Liability Status codes is submitted in the submission file; 01 Accepted 02 Pending 03 Rejected 04 Withdrawn 05 Invalid Claim |
Regulator Identifier | A read-only field. A numerical identifier will be automatically allocated once the record has been saved. |
Injury / Disease Description | A free-text field to record the description of the most serious Secondary Injury. |
Nature of Injury / Disease | A drop-down list to record the nature of Secondary Injury. |
Bodily Location Description | A free-text field to record the description of the bodily location of the Secondary Injury e.g. Upper arm, ankle, eye. |
Bodily Location | A drop-down list to record the bodily location of the secondary injury/disease. |
View or edit a Secondary Injury record
From the Secondary Injuries page, you can view the details of a Secondary Injury by using the arrow located on the left to expand all details previously entered.
To edit a record, select the context menu (3 dots) to the right of the row and select the Edit option.
