Overview
SolvInjury supports SIRA's Reasonable Excuse reporting requirements. This requirement is around the need for mandatory reporting of 'notification only' injuries. These 'notification only' injury types require fewer fields to be completed, which SolvInjury will accommodate via some altered liability steps.
Reasonable Excuse process
When adding an injury manually, when you select a NSW Self-Insured Policy/ Workplace, a checkbox will display 'SIRA Notification Only'. All other Policy types will not show this.
If checked, this will indicate that the notification will be sent to SIRA as "reasonably excused" in your next submission file. Some further fields, such as gender, become mandatory when you have this checked.
You will be prompted to confirm you wish to continue to include this record in your submission.
By checking this box, the Injury Notification is marked as complete and some details are pre-populated to the Claim Details page. The record's Injury Type remains as 'Injury'. This record will be changed to a 'Claim' when a further Liability Decision is added, or the Claim Data page completed.
Once the Claim Data page has been filled in and saved, the SIRA Notification Only tick box on the Details tab is locked and stays ticked.
A System Task is also created for 'Reasonable Excuse Letter must be sent'.
Where an Injury has previously been added manually or from another source (e.g. automated creation), a user is able to make this as a Notification Only Injury by either:
Going to the Details and ticking the SIRA Notification Only checkbox; or
Going to the Initial Notification page, updating the Liability Status to Reasonable Excuse and completing the required fields which will become available in the workflow.
Important
If you have already saved the Claim Data page without using the 'SIRA Notification Only' checkbox, then there is no need to attempt to later select the 'SIRA Notification Only' checkbox.
The checkbox becomes redundant once completing the Claim Data page, as the record will already be triggered to be sent to SIRA.
