Search is an integral part of nearly every action in the Portal. You'll need it to create targeted lists of individuals, export data, generate surveys, and so much more. For the average user, we recommend using Basic Search over our other search tools (Advanced, Map, etc.).
Access Basic Search
Basic Search can be accessed on the left side of your screen from Search > Basic.

Navigate Basic Search
Upon entry, you'll see the search bar on the left side, your counts at the top, and a space for your selected criteria on the right.
The Search bar is where you'll select your desired criteria. Here, you can narrow down your search to a particular location, voting group, etc.
As you make adjustments to your search, your counts will automatically update. The counts will reflect the number of individuals in your search, unique addresses (mailing, residential, apartments), as well as phone numbers (and their types).
As you add criteria to your search, you can view those selections on the right side of the Basic Search screen under Selected Criteria. If you need to remove something from your search, simply hover over your selection and click the trash bin icon. To save that parameter in your favorites, click the star.
Choose Search Criteria
Using the tabs on the left side of the screen, you can begin to select more nuanced search criteria to precisely target the voters you want to contact.
Begin by choosing your search type and state. Your search type default will depend on your subscription access (clients have either i360 or MyData). If you have already saved a project, you can access your previous search by selecting 'Saved Audiences'.
You will likely have either 'MyData' OR 'i360', not both.
My Favorites
The 'My Favorites' tab will save your favorite search parameters and controls.
Favorite Parameters are specific criterion, such as a particular city (ie., Fairfax County, VA).
Favorite Controls are specific subjects of broader criterion (ie., Counties).
Add to your Favorites by clicking the star next to your favorite search criterion. If the star is gold, it has been added to your Favorites. Add to your favorite controls by clicking the star next to search options under the search bar.
Locations
The locations tab allows you to create a search based upon DMA (media markets), cities, counties, zip codes, and political geographies.
Simply click on your desired control and search for your geography.
DMA is a Designated Market area. This criterion is typically used for media market purposes.
Cities, Counties, and Zip Codes can be added in bulk or individually, as long as they are within your database's geography.
Congressional Districts (as long as they are within your geography) can be added in bulk or individually.
Legislative and Senate Districts (as long as they are within your geography) can be added in bulk or individually.
Municipal Names, Wards, Municipal Codes, and Precincts are also available to sort in this tab.
Contacts
The contacts tab is where you can choose phone type: cell phone, landline, or both. You can also choose how reliable you want your list of phone numbers to be on a scale of 0-5.
Phone reliability scale:
5 (Good Dialer Connect in the last year OR received in the past 6 months)
4 (Last received phone 6-12 months ago OR Phone Source = MO)
3 (Last received phone 12-24 months ago)
2 (Last received phone more than 24 months ago)
1 (Bad Dialer Connect in the last year)
0 (No phone and/or reliability available)
You are also able to search by area codes within your geography.
Contacts is also home to email filtering and opt-ins. Customers with the email subscription tool will come to this tab to retrieve email addresses for export.
Tags
After you've started making calls, knocking doors, or sending texts, that data will be retrievable from the Tags tab. Choose categories and tags that were created by your organization, or select i360 dispositions such as 'Take Survey' to review counts of individuals who responded to your surveys.
Tags are a key part of tracking data. Learn more about them here: Tag Creation
Demographics & Interests
The Demographics tab contains criteria which allow you to limit your search by specific demographic criteria such as age, race, ethnicity, income, and occupation.
Age Range can be customized from ages 18 to 125. Adjust the range by dragging the blue dots to the left or right for your desired target range.
Gender can be sorted by All, Male, Female, or Other. 'All' is the default. 'Other' refers to not specified.
Registration Status may be defaulted to All, Registered, or Not Registered, depending on your subscription. Make sure to address this setting in your Selected Criteria, if necessary.
NCOA (National Change of Address) allows you to choose whether or not to include individuals whose addresses are marked as “Not Moved.” This means their current address has not been flagged by postal carriers as an address from which an individual is moving, or “All Addresses” which includes those flagged addresses.
Race, Ethnicity, and Religion can also be included in your search on this tab.
The interests section includes Occupations, Interests, Family Data, and Education Levels. You can toggle your selection to include OR exclude any OR all of your searches.
You can also include an income and wealth range by moving the blue dots to your desired spots.
Voting
The Voting tab provides you with the ability to select voters based upon their political party when available, permanent absentee voter status, and voting frequency.
To choose a range of voters based upon when they registered to vote, you can use the registration start and registration end options. These dates are calculated only on month and year. As a result, it will not matter which day you choose.
To choose voters based upon their voting frequency, select criteria within General and Primary Voting Frequency. These scores (0 of 4) are calculated by the number of times a voter has voted in the last four even year elections (IE: 2022, 2020, 2018, and 2016). New Jersey and Virginia are exceptions since these states are based on the last four calendar years.
Note: Voting frequency is mutually exclusive. This means that, if 3 of 4 is selected, it will only search for people who have voted 3 out of the last 4 elections. If you want people who have voted in at least 3 of 4, then both 3 of 4 and 4 of 4 need to be selected.
Sort by partisanship under Party, Primary Ballot Indicator, and Household Party Affiliation.
Party will indicate how the voter is registered (GOP, Democrat, Independent, etc.). Keep in mind that not all states have party registration.
Primary Ballot Indicator will let you choose individuals based on which partisan ballots they voted on in past elections. Sort by GOP Only, Majority GOP, Equal # of Both, Majority Dem, or Dem Only.
Household Party Affiliation will let you select the political make up of your targeted households. Choose an all GOP/Dem/Other household, or various combinations.
Select Permanent Absentee Voters to target voters that always request absentee ballots.
Voter Active Status allows you to sort whether a voter is Active or Inactive. New Voters will allow you to only include voters that have registered within the last 12 months. Selecting Exclude individuals who have voted will remove any individual from your search who has already voted in the upcoming primary or general election.
Elections and Vote Methods will let you target individuals who have voted (or not voted) in particular primary or general elections. You can sort them based on how they voted, whether that is in person, absentee, by partisanship, or by any method. You can toggle your selection to include OR exclude any OR all of your searches.
AB/EV (Absentee & Early Voting)
The AB/EV tab allows you to include current or historical absentee or early voting data. As early voting is going on live in your state, you can target or exclude individuals based on their voting status. (Consult your account manager or support@i-360.com to see if this is available in your state).
By default, this page will show the tabs for current AB/EV. To find historical data, select ABEV Historical.
As AB/EV data updates close to your election, you can choose to include any or all criteria on this list. Ballot Requested indicates that the voter has asked the Secretary of State for their ballot. Ballot Mailed to Voter indicates that the ballot has been sent out. Ballot Returned will show that the individual has voted via mail. Early Voting shows that the individual has voted in-person prior to election day.
i360 Models
The Models tab allows you to filter your results with i360 model scores. You can choose to include or exclude particular issues and/or adjust modeling scores assigned to individuals on a scale between 0 - 100. You can mouse over the
to see a tool tip that will explain which side of the issue is close to 100 and which is closer to 0.
Note: Modeling scores are not an indication of how strongly someone feels on an issue, but are instead a measure of how confident i360 is that the individual supports/opposes that issue. A score of 96 on the tax model means that i360 is very confident that those individuals oppose new taxes. It does not indicate how intensely those individuals are opposed to taxes - just that they will likely not support them.
Observations
The Observations tab will allow you to filter based on previous political support and observations. This information comes from previous identification efforts and is scrubbed of context and source.
Save Progress
When you're satisfied with your Search Criteria, refer to the bottom of the page, where you can name your search.
In the bottom right corner, click 'Save' to save your search with a title and add an optional description. Click 'New' to start a new search.
