Can I use a track with Content ID on YouTube?

Written by Elena

Some music tracks in our library are marked with a Content ID tag. This means they’re registered in YouTube’s Content ID system by the music owner, such as a record label or distributor. If you use one of these tracks in a YouTube video, you may receive a copyright claim.

When a claim happens, the music owner can:

  • Take the ad revenue from your video

  • Block your video in some or all countries

  • Track your video’s performance

No worries though. You can always dispute the claim by providing a receipt showing that you purchased the track legally from Icons8.

Alternatively, you can use tracks without a Content ID tag. These tracks are safe to use on YouTube — even for monetized videos — and you won’t get a claim.

If you’re not sure which tracks are okay to use, or if you get a claim, reach out to us — we’re happy to help.
