Some music tracks in our library are marked with a Content ID tag. This means they’re registered in YouTube’s system by the music’s owner (like a record label or distributor). If you use one of these tracks in a monetized YouTube video (a video that earns money from ads), you could get a copyright claim.
When a claim happens, the music owner can:
Take the ad revenue from your video
Block your video in some or all countries
Track your video’s performance
If you want to use a Content ID–tagged track in a monetized video, you need to get permission first.
Contact us, and we’ll ask the music owner for approval. If they say yes, you’ll be allowed to use the track in a monetized video.
Alternatively, you can use tracks without a Content ID tag. These tracks are safe to use on YouTube — even for monetized videos — and you won’t get a claim.
If you’re not sure which tracks are okay to use, or if you get a claim, reach out to us — we’re happy to help.
