1. Introduction
This page allows you to configure, manage, and monitor alarm trigger limits for various station groups in the GeoSens monitoring system. The interface provides comprehensive tools for setting up alarm thresholds, importing and exporting configurations, and managing monitoring parameters across your project.
2. Navigation
Sign in to GeoSens.
In the left‐hand menu expand STAT INIT | PROPERTY → click STAT Alarm Trigger Limits.
3. Project Station Group Selection
Select a Project Station-Group Type: Dropdown menu to filter station groups by type
4. Alarm Trigger Limits Table
The central table displays all configured alarm triggers with these columns:
Field | Description |
Station-Group Type | Category of monitoring station (e.g., Survey XYZ, Tunnel Face Convergence) |
Station-Group Name | Specific location identifier for the monitoring point |
Alarm Level | Severity classification (e.g., ACTION, AMBER) |
Data Column | Specific measurement parameter being monitored |
Trigger Limit | Numerical threshold value that activates the alarm |
Trigger Applied | Condition type that triggers the alarm (e.g., Both, Negative) |
To | Secondary limit or direction parameter |
Alarm On | Toggle indicating if the alarm is currently active |
Enabled | Toggle indicating if the monitoring point is enabled |
Notes | Additional information field for comments |
5. Action Buttons
Function | Description |
Edit Grid | Enables inline editing of parameter values directly in the grid. |
Import | Upload alarm limits settings in bulk via CSV. Click to download the data template, fill in data, and import files. |
Export
| Download the displayed data into an Excel file.
|
Delete | Tick to select an existing row of instrument parameter. Click on 'Delete' to delete entries (only enabled with selection). |
Copy | Tick to select an existing row of instrument parameter. Click on 'Copy' to duplicate the setting for quick editing. It will be renamed ending with '(Copy)', click 'Edit' to make further changes. |
Pagination Controls
Items per page selector: Choose between 10, 20, 40, 60, or 80 items per page
Page navigation: Navigate through multiple pages of configurations
6. Alarm Configuration Management
A. Setting Up New Alarm Triggers
Click "Edit Grid" to enable editing mode
Add new rows by clicking the "+Add" icon or using the "Copy" function
Configure each parameter:
Select Station-Group Type and Name
Choose appropriate Alarm Level based on severity
Specify Data Column to monitor
Set Trigger Limit value (numerical threshold)
Configure Trigger Applied conditions
Enable Alarm On and Enabled as needed
Save changes by clicking "Save"
B. Modifying Existing Alarms
Click "Edit Grid" to enter editing mode
Select the row(s) you wish to modify
Edit values directly in the cells
Use bulk edit options for changing multiple configurations simultaneously
Save changes when complete
C. Using Filters for Efficient Management
Click Filter icon next to each column header
Set filter criteria based on any column:
Station-Group Type
Alarm Level
Trigger Limit values
Enabled status
Apply filters to focus on specific configuration subsets
7. Best Practices for Alarm Configuration
Naming Conventions:
Use consistent naming patterns for Station-Group Names
Include location references in names for easy identification
Threshold Setting:
Base trigger limits on engineering specifications
Consider setting graduated thresholds (AMBER before ACTION)
Document the rationale for threshold values in Notes
Regular Maintenance:
Export configurations regularly for backup
Review and update thresholds based on project phases
Document changes in configuration versions
Optimization:
Disable unnecessary alarms during non-critical periods
Group similar monitoring points for easier management
Use the Copy function to quickly replicate similar configurations
Documentation:
Use the Notes field to document important information
Export configurations for inclusion in project documentation
Record calibration references where applicable
8. Troubleshooting
Common Import Issues
File Format Errors: Ensure your file matches the required template
Data Validation Failures: Check that all required fields have valid data
Duplicate Entries: Resolve conflicts with existing configuration names
Special Character Issues: Avoid special characters in critical fields
Export Problems
Large File Generation: For very large datasets, use filtered exports
Missing Data: Ensure all needed columns are selected in export options
Format Compatibility: Choose the appropriate format for your intended use
General System Issues
Page Loading Slow: Reduce items per page for better performance
Changes Not Saving: Ensure you click "Apply" or "Save" after edits
Filter Not Working: Clear all filters and recreate them if issues persist
