Load a Project in 4D Viewer

This guide explains how to select, load, and activate projects in the SensGrid 4D Viewer.

Written by Ken Panitz

Overview

Loading a project in the 4D Viewer is a two-step process:

  1. Select the general project from the SensGrid LAB landing page.

  2. Activate the specific 4D BIM project integration inside the 4D Viewer.

Step 1: Select the Project from the Landing Page

After logging in to the SensGrid platform:

  1. Select LAB Vertical:

    • On the vertical selection page, click on LAB to open the LAB workspace.

    • You will see the project selection landing page displaying cards for all projects you have permissions to access.

  2. Choose Your Project:

    • Scroll or search for your project card.

    • Click the project card. This navigates you to the Project Home landing page.

  3. Open 4D Viewer:

    • Click 4D Viewer in the navigation menu (or add /4dviewer to the end of the URL).

    • The 4D Viewer interface will open, displaying the base GIS map centered on the project site.

Step 2: Activate the 4D BIM Project Integration

Once inside the 4D Viewer, you must load the specific construction model and sensor telemetry integrations:

  1. Open Tobe Projects Panel:

    • Click the Tobe Projects (folder/alert icon) in the left Work Panel.

    • A side panel will slide out showing a tree list of available sub-projects and integrations.

  2. Activate the Project:

    • Find the project integration you want to load.

    • Click the Activate button next to the project name.

    • A loading indicator will appear next to the project name as the viewer downloads:

      • 3D BIM models

      • GIS layers and terrain alignments

      • Telemetry device lists

      • Construction schedule timelines (programme)

  3. Verify the Loaded Model:

    • Once loading is complete, the button text will change from Activate to Deactivate.

    • The 3D BIM models and instrument icons will render on the main map.

    • The timelines at the bottom will become active.

Managing Loaded Projects

Deactivating a Project

To unload a model and clear the active view:

  • Open the Tobe Projects panel.

  • Click the Deactivate button next to the active project.

  • The 3D models, devices, and timelines will be removed from the view, returning you to the base map.

Clearing Cached Data

The 4D Viewer caches project geometry and files in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) to speed up loading times on subsequent visits. If you suspect your local model is out of date or rendering incorrectly:

  1. Open the Tobe Projects panel.

  2. Click the Clear Cache button at the bottom of the panel.

  3. Reload/Activate the project to download the latest files from the server.

Warning: Clearing the cache will force a complete redownload of the 3D models. This may take several minutes depending on your internet connection speed.
