Pre-recorded content refers to...you got it...something that’s already happened and has been recorded in audio or video format! This method of measurement is great for influencers who want to see if their Tik-Tok vid is gonna go viral, creatives & marketers who wanna know if their ad will truly drive sales, and movie producers who want data to provide evidence for whether that scene is gonna land.

What’s even cooler?! Participants can watch the content when it’s convenient for them, from the comfort of their own couch! That’s right - with this approach, your participants can join the measurement on their clock, and the data auto-aggregates for you.

You can measure the impact of a huge range of content – to spark some inspiration, here are just a few of the types of content you can use:

  • Advertisements

  • Trailers

  • Unreleased songs

  • Full-length films

  • Original content

  • Training videos

  • Educational content

  • Recorded entertainment events

  • Keynote speakers

  • Webinars

And more! What will you choose?!

Simply click on the blue ‘Measure New Experience’ button from the dashboard, choose ‘Pre-recorded content’, and then follow the steps below! You can also use the quick-links here to jump to the section of interest:

Step 1 - Select the content you want to measure

  • Link to URL: Simply paste a link to content hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, etc. (Note, be sure the link is not password protected)

  • Upload from your computer: Choose to upload an audio or video file from your computer, and it will be securely processed by our VDO provider. Note: the length of processing depends upon file size and content length.

Nerdy tip: For longer-form content, we recommend hosting on a platform outside of Immersion and then linking the content. We recommend uploading your video to YouTube as "unlisted" for privacy and getting a shareable link to paste into our platform from there.

Optional step - Link a post-survey:

  • If you want to ask your audience questions about themselves or the content after the measurement, you can link to a post-survey on another platform.

  • Simply click on ‘Add Post-Experience Survey’ beneath the ‘Experience Name’ field, and paste the survey link.

  • After viewing, participants will be presented a button to redirect to the post-survey.

Nerdy tip: We recommend capturing participants sensor ID's (by having them enter them into the post-survey) in order to map the data to demographics, if that is of interest. Participants can access their device ID at the top of the mobile webpage as they are taking a post-survey.

Step 2 - Set Time Parameters

  • This is where you will set the window of time for participants to watch your content. Experiences are automatically set for a 24 hour window, so if you want to give your participants more or less time, adjust accordingly. In addition, you have the ability to start the experience ASAP by checking the "start now" box. It takes about a minute for the experience to open after checking that box.

  • You do have the ability to extend the window of time that participants have to complete an experience, only if the experience has not closed yet. The experience must be "In Progress" to be able to extend the time parameters. Simply navigate to the setup tab on the experience, and hit the pencil icon that appears when you hover over the box with the date and time parameters in the left upper corner of the screen:

  • Additionally, if you set the window of time longer than needed and you have all the data from participants that you need, you have the ability to end the experience early. Simply follow the steps above for extending the experience window of time, and hit "End Now". It will take about a minute for the experience to end and refresh its status to "complete" in your dashboard

Step 3 - Invite participants by adding emails, sharing a link, or sharing a unique Experience ID:

  • The Immersion platform allows you to invite participants through our system by simply adding their email addresses during or after setup. Doing so will initiate an email to them with the necessary instructions for downloading the app. We also provide a shareable invite link which you can embed in an email you craft or post through Slack, LinkedIn, etc.! For more information, please head to this article. The third option is to share the unique Experience ID that is auto-generated. Once you share this code with participants (whom already have the Immersion Mobile app downloaded) they will add it into the app and the experience will queue up automatically for them.

Step 4 - Measurement ensues!

  • Once the experience is set up, participants can watch the content on their own time in the viewing window you requested.

  • To view, participants will first be asked to start data collection on their device, and after clicking through to the experience, Immersion will confirm they have a successful connection. Note: The video will not appear until we begin receiving data from their device.

  • Their immersion and safety levels will be tracked throughout the experience, and you can watch the results accrue in real-time! For more information on the participant experience, see here.

Nerdy fact: When the viewer clicks ‘Play’, our system adds a marker which allows us to align data for all viewers! That’s right, we’re doing all the tough work for you!

Step 5 - Monitor participation progress

  • Keep an eye on participant progress in the ‘Setup’ tab of your experience.

  • The information here lets you know who has completed, and who might need a bit of help along the way! For more information on monitoring participation, head here.

Step 6 - Starting getting insights!

  • When the measurement completes, insights await! See full detail on getting insights here.

  • Use the Report Card tab to get a temperature check on how your content connected with the audience. Learn more here!

  • Review the timeline data in the Second-by-Second tab to see your optimization map!! Learn more here!
