Requirements

To get started, ensure you have the following:

  • Access to the Indie Ads Manager platform

  • A standard ad zone with a fixed size set to 300x250 (best for sidebar or inline positions)

  • Note: while these ads can be assigned to a dynamic zone, they do not always display correctly

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Log into Indie Ads Manager and navigate to the relevant Advertiser record (or create a new Advertiser)

  2. Click Add Campaign and select Standard Campaign

  3. Enter a name for your Campaign and adjust the targeting & scheduling levels

  4. Click Create Campaign

  5. In your newly created campaign, click Add Ad Item

  6. From the Add Ad Item window, select Native (Custom Rendering/API)

  7. Give the ad a name (required)

  8. Set the ad item's size to 300x250 then complete the remaining fields as needed

  9. Select the Display: Native Event Ad template from the Template drop-down menu

  10. Fill in the following variables:

    1. Destination URL: place your destination URL in this field instead of the field higher up

    2. Logo: include a small, simple logo; ideally one that is a single colour

    3. Event Name: include the name of the event

    4. Event Date: include the date of the event

    5. Event Tagline: include a small snippet of text highlighting the event

    6. Background Colour: enter a HEX colour code, i.e. #253535

    7. Text Colour: select either white (#FFFFFF) or black (#000000)

    8. CTA Button Background Colour: enter a HEX colour code, i.e. #F9DC68

    9. CTA Button Text Colour: select either white (#FFFFFF) or black (#000000)

    10. CTA Button Text: select from the dropdown

  11. Click Save Ad Item

You are now ready to assign your ad to the relevant zone.

Previewing Your Ad

Unlike native ads set to dynamic size, you can preview how your upcoming event ad will appear if you have assigned a size to the ad.

Read-Only Code

When building your ad using a native template, you will see a window with the template code. This code is read-only; you cannot edit or break the template from the Ad Item build window.

Basic Troubleshooting

  • Text is cutting off: Reduce the amount of text in your ad. Ideally, keep the title to one line.

  • Button is touching the edges of the ad: Similar to the above issue, shorten the text you are including. The template will attempt to display all information, which can cause elements to touch the top or bottom of the ad when rendered.

  • Ad formatting is different when rendering on my website: Check the zone you are assigning your ad to. If you are assigning the ad to a dynamic zone, the ad may not render correctly. We always recommend using a fixed-size zone set to 300x250.
