Proxy alignment & repair services
2 Situations require a Proxi Alignment. Upgrading a Radio in the vehicles mentioned below (or replacing anything that has software, such as radio, HVAC module, etc.)
And when a customer sends in a radio for a repair and we replace the main board on the radio.
The following vehicles listed below WILL need a proxy alignment when they receive the repaired radio back:
-Jeep Cherokee
-Jeep Renegade
-Chrysler 200
-Jeep Compass
There's an exception for Jeep Compass vehicles - if the vehicle is a 2017 and is a TIPM vehicle (uses Mygig Radio models, such as the 130 RES, 730N RHR, 430 RBZ or 430N RBZ then it will not need a proxy alignment as the TIPM vehicles from 2017 or lower are not FIAT based, and are incapable of upgrading to Uconnect 3's and Uconnect 4's) However, if the Jeep Compass is a 2017 and has the Uconnect 3 radio systems, a proxi alignment is required. The Jeep Compass came in two versions in 2017.
When replacing a module in a FIAT based vehicle you must have a proxi alignment performed by the dealership.
Here is how you do it using the WiTech tool via DealerConnect or TechConnect.
This can be performed at your local FCA dealer or local mechanic with the WiTech & TechConnect subscriptions.
Essentially this only affects specific vehicles. The vehicles that have a FIAT based BCM are the Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Renegade, and the Chrysler 200.
A Proxi alignment always needs to be performed if the radio is changed, even if it's the exact same part number as what came in the vehicle. The proxi alignment forces the vehicle to accept the new radio as its own.
Example of a Proxi Alignment being preformed.
Proxi Alignment not working:
When installing a Carplay/Auto radio upgrade on a Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee, you want to follow the PROXI alignment to the letter.
If you get an ECU issue, you should "RESET ECU," which is located below the "Proxi Configuration Alignment."
If that doesn't work, have them check part #, then errors.
If an error saying "Main GPS current value absent" pops up, it means the PROXI isn't taking due to the UAQ having native Nav.
A UAS will be needed instead.
This is due to Jeeps using a Fiat-based BCM.
