How to Archive Contacts

Archiving allows you to remove contacts from your active audience without permanently deleting them. Archived contacts no longer count towards your active audience and also won't be included in your contact amount for billing. This article explains how to archive contacts individually or in bulk, and how to restore them if needed.

When to Archive a Contact

Archive a contact when they are no longer part of your active audience, for example, contacts who have unsubscribed, are no longer relevant, or need to be cleaned from your database. Archiving keeps their data accessible in the archive without affecting your active contact count or campaign targeting.

How to Archive Contacts

You can archive one or more contacts directly from the Audience overview.

Step 2: Select the contacts you want to archive by ticking the checkbox next to each contact name.

Step 3: Click Actions in the top right area of the contact list. A dropdown will appear

with the options Export, Assign tags, Remove tags, and Archive contacts.

Step 4: Click Archive contacts. The selected contacts will be moved to the archive and removed from your active audience.

How to Archive Contacts in Bulk

The most efficient way to archive a large group of contacts is to first create a segment of the contacts you want to archive, and then archive the entire segment at once.

Step 1: Create a segment based on the criteria of the contacts you want to archive. For more information on creating segments, refer to [Link: How to Create a Segment].

Step 2: Once the segment is loaded and the filtered contact list is visible, tick the checkbox in the column header to select all contacts on the current page. A banner will appear above the list with the option to select all contacts matching your segment.

Step 3: Click Select all X contacts to select your full segment.

Step 4: Click Actions and select Archive contacts.

Viewing and Restoring Archived Contacts

Archived contacts are stored in the archive and can be accessed at any time.

Step 1: Go to Innercrowd Dashboard > Audience and click the settings icon next to the search bar, or click Actions and select Archived contacts.

Step 2: The archived contacts overview will open, showing all contacts that have been archived.

Step 3: To restore one or more contacts, select them using their checkboxes, click Actions, and select Unarchive contacts. They will be returned to your active audience.
