There are two ways to apply a tag to many contacts at once instead of tagging them one by one: select existing contacts from the list, or apply a tag automatically while importing a new list.
Method 1: Tag contacts from the contact list
Use this when the contacts you want to tag are already in Innercrowd.
Step 1: Select the contacts
Go to Audience in the left sidebar. Check the box next to each contact you want to tag, or check the box in the table header to select every contact on the page.
It's also possible to select all contacts on a page by clicking the checkbox on the left of the 'Contact' in the header.
After selecting all contacts on a page, an option pops up to select all your contacts.
Best Practice: create a segment first
In most cases, you want to tag specific contacts in bulk. The best way to do so is by first creating a segment of this specific group, and then selecting all contacts by following the instructions above. Check "How to Create a Segment" for more information.
Step 2: Open Assign Tags
Click Actions, then Assign tags.
Step 3: Choose a tag
Click + Add a tag, then either select an existing tag from the list or type a new name to create one on the spot.
Step 4: Confirm
Click Assign Tags. A confirmation appears once the tag has been applied to every selected contact.
Tip: Use Remove tags from the same Actions menu to take a tag off a group of contacts the same way.
Method 2: Add a tag automatically during import
Use this when you're bringing in a new list of contacts and want them all tagged as soon as they're added, for example, everyone from a specific event or signup form. You can also use this option for existing contacts by first exporting
Step 1: Start an upload
Go to Audience, click the settings icon next to the search bar, and choose Upload contacts. Give the import a name so you can find it again later.
Step 2: Add tags to the upload
Under Add tags to contacts, select an existing tag or click + Create new tag. Every contact in this file will be tagged automatically once the import finishes.
Step 3: Complete the Import flow
Finish the import by following the pages within the popup. For a full walkthrough on how to import your contacts, see "How to Import Contacts" in the Account collection. Once the import finishes, every contact in the file has the tag(s) you selected in Step 2.
