A Secondary Camera is only required for certain activities that have this setup activated. You will need your primary camera on your laptop or desktop, along with a secondary camera using a mobile device.
Once you access your activity, you will know if a secondary camera is required if prompted to set it up with a QR code. If a QR code is presented, please follow these steps to proceed.
Step 1: Access your activity.
Step 2: Provide the required verification as prompted by the system (e.g., a photo of yourself and a photo of your identification, if required).
Step 3: A QR code will appear to connect to your mobile camera.
Step 4: Use your mobile phone to scan the provided QR code and follow the setup process.
Step 5: Position your mobile camera on the same desk where you are taking your activity, ensuring that a wide angle of you is visible.
Note: If there is no prompt for a secondary camera, your activity only requires the primary camera. You may contact your activity provider to confirm if a secondary camera is necessary.
Using Your Mobile Device as a Secondary Camera: Troubleshooting Guide
Follow the steps below to help prevent disconnections and resolve common issues when using your mobile device as a secondary camera during an activity.
Before Starting Your Activity
Enable Do Not Disturb. Set your mobile device to Do Not Disturb mode to prevent calls and notifications from interrupting your session.
Check your battery level. Ensure your mobile device has sufficient battery power. Keep it connected to a charger if possible.
Check app permissions. Go to your device's Settings > Apps > [Your Browser] > Permissions and ensure that the Camera and Microphone permissions are set to Allow. Also, ensure that pop-ups and redirects are permitted in your browser settings.
Check your internet connection. Ensure both your computer and mobile device have stable internet connections to prevent unexpected disconnections.
Keep your browser open. Avoid closing the browser, switching browsers, or navigating away from the activity while it is in progress.
Troubleshooting Steps
If your mobile device disconnects from the activity:
Exit and relaunch the activity immediately. If your mobile device becomes disconnected, completely exit the activity on your computer and relaunch it as soon as possible to minimize any impact on your remaining exam time (if there are any).
Generate a new QR code. A new QR code can only be generated by completely exiting and re-entering the activity. Use the newly generated QR code to reconnect your mobile device.
Do not simply refresh the page. Refreshing the activity page on your computer will not regenerate the QR code. You must completely exit the activity and re-enter it.
Restart your browser. If the issue persists, close all browser windows, reopen your browser, and relaunch the activity on your computer.
Clear your browser cache. If you are still experiencing connection issues, clear your browser's cache and try launching the activity again.
Restart your computer. If none of the steps above resolve the issue, restart your computer and relaunch the activity.
Additional Reminders
Ensure your mobile device remains connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data network throughout the activity.
Keep your mobile device's screen awake and avoid switching to other applications unless instructed otherwise.
Important: If your exam has a time limit, act promptly if a disconnection occurs. Completely exiting and relaunching the activity is necessary to generate a new QR code and reconnect your mobile device. Please be aware that your exam timer may continue running during troubleshooting. If you run out of time due to the disconnection, contact your activity provider to request another attempt and provide a clear explanation of the situation.
