Camera Issue

If you're having trouble with your webcam during verification, follow the steps below to troubleshoot.

Step 1: Test Your Camera

  1. Close all other apps that might be using your camera (e.g. Zoom, Teams).

  2. Open the Camera app on your computer:

    • On Windows: Press the Start button and search for “Camera.”

    • On Mac: Open Photo Booth or Facetime.

If you don’t see yourself, the issue may be with your device.
Restart your computer and try again.
If it still doesn’t work, consider switching to another device.

It's best to use a personal computer instead of a work-issued one, as company devices may have camera restrictions. If a company device is your only option, reach out to your IT or system administrator for assistance.

And, if your session is flagged despite these precautions, contact the activity provider or test administrator to review your attempt and determine further steps.

Step 2: Check for Blocks or Restrictions

If your camera works in the Camera app but not in the browser, check for blocks:

  • Close the Camera app before starting the verification.

  • Temporarily disable antivirus software, firewalls, ad blocker extension or any other browser extensions that may block camera access.

  • Check your browser permissions and make sure the following permissions are set to ‘Allow’: Camera, Microphone, Pop-ups and Redirects' by visiting this page:

Then click your browser name to view specific steps (e.g. Chrome, Edge, Safari).

Alternative Devices:

Try using a different device, such as another laptop or desktop computer. It is preferable to use a personal device rather than a work-issued one. Tablets, iPads, and smartphones may also be used, but only if your activity does not require screen sharing.

Step 3: Clear Cache & Cookies

Sometimes browser data can interfere with camera access. Clear your cache and cookies:

Step 4: Update Your Browser

Using the latest browser version improves compatibility:

Step 5: Update Your Computer
