Two-Factor Authentication FAQ

Common questions about setting up and managing two-factor authentication (TFA) on Investorlift using SMS or Google Authenticator, backup codes, and account security.

Quick answers about enabling and using two-factor authentication (TFA) on Investorlift to secure your Admin account.

Understanding TFA

What is two-factor authentication (TFA)?
TFA is an extra layer of security that requires a second method of verification in addition to your password - such as a code sent to your phone or generated by an app. For example: you enter your password, then receive a code on your phone. You must enter both correctly to log in.

Why do I have to set up TFA on my account?
TFA protects your account from unauthorized access, even if someone knows your password. With rising cyber threats, enabling TFA significantly reduces your risk of data breaches and identity theft.

What type of phone number can receive the SMS TFA code?
You must use a standard mobile phone number. TFA codes cannot be sent to VoIP (Voice over IP) numbers like Google Voice or similar services. Use a standard mobile number for the most reliable TFA delivery.

One-Time Codes

What are one-time codes?
One-time codes are temporary, single-use passcodes that expire shortly after being issued. They add an extra level of security by preventing code reuse. Each code is valid once only.

What should I do if I've used all my one-time codes?
You can regenerate a new set by going to My Profile β†’ TFA and clicking Regenerate Codes. This refreshes your list with a new set of secure one-time codes. Save them in a secure location for account recovery.
