What is Crop & Cycle?

Crop & Cycle settings determine which crop and which cultivation period every piece of data recorded in Ation belongs to. Configuring crop and cycle information in Ation to match how your farm actually operates ensures accurate data and more efficient farm management.

Terms & Data Structure

Crop & Cycle settings follow a four-level hierarchy. Each lower level is dependent on the level above it.

  • Crop: The unit representing a crop grown on the farm. Linked to the crop filter across all screens, including harvest and packing.

  • Cycle: The cultivation period for a specific crop. Only one cycle per crop can be Active at a time.

  • Period: A subdivision within a cycle used to distinguish greenhouse assignments and planting density.

  • Zone: The physical space where work takes place. A zone can only belong to one period at a time.

Important Notes When Changing Settings

A zone cannot be assigned to more than one cycle simultaneously.

For example, if Greenhouse A is assigned to a cycle running from January 1 to April 30, 2026, it cannot be added to another cycle for that same period, as it is assumed that no other crop will be grown in that greenhouse during that time.
