As a course author you can embed a webpage into your content to enrich your course.

Rather than create something from scratch, sometimes you may have resources such as web pages or interactives that you want to embed to make your course more engaging.

What can I embed?

There really is a whole range of things you can embed:

Note: If your embedded webpage is specific to the class (e.g. the class adds to a shared whiteboard) then we recommend the facilitator embed the specific webpage as classes are activated. Alternatively an author can duplicate the course, add the new URL and publish to start fresh with the next class (the original course can be edited, but it will update for all classes based on that course).

How to embed a webpage in a course content page

  1. As an author, when editing a page in a course, select the +, choose Embed, then Webpage.

  2. Paste your URL (it must start with https://).

  3. Set the size of your item (optional). If you leave this blank it will automatically size your item. Or if you wish to control the size, either ensure the code is included in the source code of your item, or Manually set size using the boxes.

Learners will always have the option to make the item fullscreen.

  4. Add an Introduction and/or an Attribution (both optional).

  5. Save to see the webpage embedded in your content page.

How to check if a webpage allows embedding

If your embedded page is not displaying, the webpage might have disallowed embedding.

You can check if embeds are disallowed by accessing your browser console (fn+F12 on Chrome, ensure the console tab is selected).

Look for errors (red).

Error descriptions vary, but if you find an error similar to:

Refused to display... because... sameorigin

Then embeds are probably disallowed.
