As a learner, you may see text in your course underlined with a red dotted line. This is because spell check and/or autocorrect are enabled by default in your internet browser or computer's operating system. If you don't want to see words underlined, you will need to customise your spell check and autocorrect functions.
Words that become underlined are specific to your browser's built-in spell check. For example, in the task below Google Chrome's spell check has underlined 8 words in te reo Māori:

How to customise your browser's spell check and autocorrect settings
Chrome
In the browser bar, go to the kebab menu indicated by the three dots, and select Settings:
From the Settings menu select Advanced.
In the Advanced menu select Languages, and turn the toggle on/off for Spell check:
Note: If you are polylingual, you can add additional languages to check against too in the Advanced menu - Languages setting. Te reo Māori is not supported however:
Firefox
In the browser bar, go to the burger menu indicated by the three lines, and select Settings:
Select General from the menu on the left and scroll down to Language.
Select or Deselect 'Check your spelling as you type':
Safari
Click in a field or on a page to get a cursor and then select the Edit menu.
Select Spelling and Grammar on the submenu.
Select or Deselect 'Correct spelling automatically'.
How to customise your operating system's spell check and autocorrect settings
Windows
Select the Windows Start icon and go to System settings.
Select Time and Language.
Select Typing and toggle Off/On the first four options:
macOS
Go to System Preferences.
Select Keyboard.
Select the Text tab.
Select or Deselect 'Correct spelling automatically':
