A class or an individual’s view of the course can be set to read only by someone with manager permissions so that the person (learner or facilitator) can access the course content but won’t be able to complete any tasks or assessments. They also won’t be able to participate in any social interactions like making social notes or posting in talk channels.

How to turn on read only for a class or individual learners

  • Go to the course card on your Dashboard in Create and select the kebab menu (three dots) to the right of Activations:

  • Select Manage on the activation you wish to change to read only:

  • Select the Access tab from the top menu.

  • Select the ‘Make course Read Only’ toggle to YES:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and select: Update course.

Remember: This will turn the class into read only for learners and facilitators. If facilitators still need to mark then you need to turn read only ON for each learner NOT the entire class as this affects everyone in it.

To turn read only ON for individual learners simply tick the read only button next to the name of the learner(s), and then select Update course:

  • Select the Facilitators tab.

  • Tick the Read only button next to the name of the facilitator(s):

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and select: Update course.

From the class console a facilitator can now see that the course is in read only mode.
