Manage users can set a class to Read Only. This mode can also be turned on for individuals (learners or facilitators) restricting just their view, but allowing the class to remain open to others.
Read Only means individuals can access the course content, but won’t be able to complete any tasks or assessments. They also won’t be able to participate in any social interactions like making social notes or posting in talk channels. Check out our article that goes into depth on this mode to learn more about why you might want to set a course as read only.
How to turn on read only for an entire class
You can set a class to Read Only with the Access tab of a class while activating a new class or editing an existing activation. Simply toggle Read Only to Yes.
When you then activate or update the course it will now be in read only mode for all individuals.
Remember: This will turn the class into read only for learners and facilitators. If facilitators still need to mark then you need to turn read only ON for each learner NOT the entire class as this affects everyone in it.
Turning on Read Only for learners
You can turn on Read Only for individual learners on that same Access tab of an activation. You will first need to add the individual to the class.
Once you have added a learner find them on the table under the Learners tab of the activation's Access page.
To turn on Read Only for individual learners, simply tick the Read only checkbox next to the name of the learner(s). Finish by selecting Update course.
Turning on Read Only for facilitators
On the Access page of the activation select the Facilitators tab. Tick the Read only checkbox next to the facilitator's name. Finish by selecting Update course.
On the Class Console the facilitator will now see that the course is in read only mode.
