How to Create a Tracking Link (UTM)

UTM parameters are additions to the donation page URL that allow you to track traffic sources to the campaign:where donors came from, through which channel, and which marketing activity performed better.

Where do I set up UTMs?

Want to know if a donation came from Facebook, WhatsApp, or your newsletter? On this page, you can create a "smart link" that helps you measure which publication worked best.

To set up UTMs, go to Edit CampaignSharing.

  1. Enter the organization's management interface -> Fundraising tab.

  2. Click on Edit Campaign for the relevant campaign.

  3. In the top menu, go to the Sharing tab.

  4. Scroll down to the UTM area.

UTM Fields Breakdown

You can fill in all fields or only some of them – according to your needs.

UTM Source – Traffic source

  1. Source: Where did the donor come from? (e.g., facebook, whatsapp, google).

  2. Medium: How did you distribute the link? (e.g., email, story, post).

  3. Campaign: Your activity name (e.g., winter_2025, passover).

  4. Content (Optional): If you have multiple links in the same post (e.g., button_top).

The Generated URL

At the bottom of the screen, a URL will appear, automatically generated based on the values you entered.

  • One-click copy: You can copy the link easily. This is the link you should use in posts, messages, emails, and social media.

  • Tracking: Every donation made through this link will be saved with the defined UTM data.

How do I shorten the link and create a QR code?

Below the generated link you'll find the Shorten this link area — it turns the long URL into a short, branded link (jgive.com/l/...), and every link comes with a downloadable QR code.

  1. Give the link a Name (e.g. "Purim campaign — WhatsApp").

  2. Want your own address? Fill in a Custom short code (e.g. purim26), or leave it empty for an automatic code.

  3. Click Create short link.

The table below lists all of the campaign's short links, including the number of clicks on each one. From the actions menu (⋮) you can copy the link, open the QR code and download it as PNG, or delete a link you no longer use.

Important to Know

  • Flexibility: You don't have to fill in all the fields – even one field provides value.

  • Consistency: Use consistent and clear names so the data is easy to analyze later.

  • Automation: Any change you make in the fields will automatically update the URL at the bottom.
