How do I take pre-authorisations?

Pre-Auth allows you to reserve funds on a customer’s card and complete or release the payment later.

⚠️ Please note: Pre-auth adjustments may take up to 5 minutes (or longer) to process. If you need an instant result, we recommend:

  • Collecting the original authorised amount, then

  • Charging any additional amount via card payment or another method

🆕 Create a new Pre-Auth

1️⃣ Go to Pre-Auths from the ☰ menu

2️⃣ Enter the amount and tap Continue

3️⃣ Customer presents their card (tap, insert, or swipe)

4️⃣ Pre-Auth is reserved — a reference number will appear on the receipt

📂 Manage an existing Pre-Auth

1️⃣ Tap Manage pre-auth

2️⃣ Enter the 6-digit Pre-Auth reference from the receipt

3️⃣ View Pre-Auth details including amount, expiry, and options

💰 Collect from an existing Pre-Auth

1️⃣ Press Collect amount

2️⃣ Enter the 6-digit Pre-Auth reference

3️⃣ Enter the amount to collect and tap Continue

4️⃣ Once approved, funds are collected and the rest (if any) is released back to the customer

✏️ Adjust an existing Pre-Auth

1️⃣ Press Adjust pre-auth

2️⃣ Enter the 6-digit reference from the receipt

3️⃣ Enter the new amount and tap Save adjustment

4️⃣ The Pre-Auth amount is updated and expiry is reset

If you need an instant result, especially when increasing the authorised amount, we recommend:

  • Collecting the original authorised amount, then

  • Charging any additional amount via card payment or another method

🔓 Release a Pre-Auth in full

1️⃣ Enter the 6-digit reference from the receipt

2️⃣ Press Release pre-auth (may require PIN)

3️⃣ The full amount is released back to the customer
