How does instant feedback on exam practice work?

Get feedback as soon as you submit an exam-style question you're practising on your own.

Written by Honey Jane Santos

When you practise an exam-style question on your own, you get feedback as soon as you submit your answer. It shows you what works, the main thing to improve and where to look next, so you know what to change in your next attempt.

Note: This is currently available for exam-style questions in IB DP Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

How it works

  1. Open the exam-style question library in your subject and pick a question.

  2. Open the question in self-study mode.

  3. Write your answer and click Submit.

  4. For each part of the question you'll then see:

  • what works in your answer

  • the main thing to improve, and where to look next

  • a suggested mark, based on the markscheme

  1. Use the feedback to improve your answer, then try the question again.

Good to know

  • The feedback is AI-generated, so it can make mistakes. Use it to practise, not as your final mark.

  • The suggested mark isn't a grade, and it doesn't predict your IB grade.

  • You only get instant feedback when you practise on your own, not on assignments from your teacher.

  • You can try a question as many times as you like.

  • Your teacher can see your answers, but not the suggested marks yet.

FAQ

What if I think the score or feedback is wrong?

It might be. Check your answer against the markscheme if your teacher has made it available, and ask your teacher if you're unsure. A way to flag feedback is coming soon.

Why don't I see instant feedback on a question?

It's only available for some subjects so far, and it's switched off while a question is part of an assignment you've been set.
