Setting Up a Kontist Business Account for Your Company (GmbH, GbR & more)

Would you like to open a Kontist account for your company or as a shareholder? No problem – even if several legal representatives are involved. Here’s how the onboarding process works and what you should be aware of.

Requirements

  • You are a legal representative (e.g. managing director) of the company

  • The registered office has a business address in Germany

  • You and all other legal representatives are not taxable in the USA

  • You have a valid ID document and a smartphone

Step-by-step guide to opening an account

  1. Select legal form:
    In the Kontist app, select the correct business structure (e.g. GmbH, GbR, UG, GmbH & Co. KG, etc.)

  2. Find or enter company information:
    Search your company in the register or enter the business data manually

  3. Enter personal details:
    Enter your personal information (name, date/place of birth, private address, phone number)

  4. Tax information:
    Confirm that you are taxable in Germany and not in the USA

  5. Confirm company details:
    Enter the business purpose (NACE code) and all required tax information

  6. Add legal representatives:
    Add any additional legal representatives and enter their email addresses
    → They will receive an invitation by email to enter their data in the Kontist app

  7. Beneficial owners:
    Indicate the beneficial owners of your company, if applicable

  8. Verification:
    As soon as all legal representatives have submitted their data, the IDnow video verification will be activated for each person. Here you can find more details about the process

  9. Documents & additional questions:
    Our partner bank, Solaris SE, may request additional information or documents. You can upload them directly in the app.

  10. Final review & account opening:
    Once all legal representatives have been successfully verified and Solaris has completed the checks, your account will be activated

  11. Choose a plan:
    After successful onboarding, you can choose your Kontist plan

Good to know:

  • Each legal representative must install the Kontist app and complete the identity check via video verification

  • You can track the application status and verification progress in the app
