Yes, in certain cases:
✅ Neutering or spaying without medical indication
A preventive (non-medically indicated) neutering or spaying procedure is only covered under the Maxi plan as part of the preventive care budget of €140.
If the procedure costs more than €140, you will need to cover the remaining amount yourself.
If you have already used part of your preventive care budget, only the remaining amount of the budget can be applied toward the reimbursement of the procedure.
ℹ️ Neutering or spaying with medical indication
Under all three health insurance plans (Mini, Midi, and Maxi) as well as the surgery plan (OP), neutering or spaying is covered only if it is medically necessary and has been recommended by your veterinarian. Each case is reviewed individually based on the insurance terms and conditions.
In such cases, all the reimbursable costs are fully covered through the unlimited surgical cost budget.
❗Important: Not every medical indication is automatically covered. Please see further information below.
What does "medical indication" mean?
Some veterinarians may recommend neutering or spaying for reasons such as, temperament issues, behavioral concerns, or hypersexuality, etc. These are not considered medical indications. If your pet is insured under the Maxi plan, partial reimbursement in such cases is possible through the preventive care budget.
Recognized medical indications include conditions related to gynecological, andrological, and oncological diseases.
