At Lassie, pets of all ages are welcome! šŸ’™

As soon as your puppy or kitten reaches 8 weeks of age, they can be insured with Lassie. We have no upper age limit, meaning that even older pets are welcome—even if they have never been insured before.

ā„¹ļø Please note: Some coverage limitations may apply for older pets, as pre-existing conditions are not covered. Learn more below.

Does the reimbursement amount or deductible change as my pet ages?

Since we do not impose an age limit on our insurance policies, your compensation amount remains the same throughout your pet’s life with us.

Similarly, your deductible remains unchanged as your pet gets older—unless you decide to adjust it yourself.

Do you cover pre-existing conditions for older pets?

If you are insuring an older pet, it is important to consider how previous illnesses and injuries are handled:

  • Pre-existing conditions are not covered. This includes any condition for which your pet has been treated, medicated, examined, or shown symptoms within the last 24 months. If your pet experienced a health issue more than 24 months ago, and it has not recurred since, that condition will not be considered a pre-existing issue and may be covered as long as it is not excluded for any other reason.

  • Chronic conditions and allergies. If your pet has a pre-existing allergy or chronic condition, you can still insure them with us. However, any treatment related to that condition will be excluded from coverage.

Will the price of the insurance increase with the age of my pet?

Yes, your insurance premium is influenced by your pet’s age. As your pet grows older, the premium will increase to account for the higher risk of illness and injury that comes with aging.
