This installation guide covers LG Washers and Dryers with a Serial communication interface. Card-ready and Coin-prep models are supported. Some example model numbers include GCWM1069CS7, GDL1329CGS3, TCWM2013 and more.

Card Reader Kit
Majority of card-only and hybrid (coin + card) installs require a Generic Serial board - Part #: ASSY-02-02-10
For certain Hybrid installs (very dependent on machine model) you may receive a Generic Relay board instead - Part #: ASSY-02-02-11. Otherwise, you will almost always be provided a Generic Serial board.

Installation Steps
Step 1: Configure Machine Side Settings

Set Vend Prices
LG machines are in complete control of cycle prices.
Using the machine programming menu, set the cycle prices (see LG user manual)
Enable Serial Communication (Card Mode)
Enable Serial Communication (Card Mode)
Using the machine programming menu, set the machine to “Card” mode and the “Pay” mode (see LG user manual)
Go into the LG settings menu:
On newer models, Go into Vend and set it to Card
On older models models, Go into fea1 -> Vend and set it to Card
Step 2: Turn Machine Power OFF
It is always recommended to power the machine off before install the card readers.
Step 3: Remove Coin Drop (Card-Only Installs)
Removing the Coin Drop is only necessary for Card Only installs.
If you are installing the reader in a Hybrid (Coin + Card) configuration, the Coin Drop need to remain installed.
Step 3: Number the reader using the DIP switches
Review our: Reader DIP Switch settings article for details on how to set the Card Reader's Machine Type, and Reader Number.
You need to do this BEFORE mounting the Card Readers onto the machines, as accessing the back of the card reader is required.
Step 4: Card Reader Serial Connection
Open the service compartment to access to machine's control board and wire harnesses.
Feed the provided 6-wire Card Reader harness through the card slot, then connect the provided 6-wire cable harness between the card reader and the machine's black connector, as shown below:
The machine's black connector is usually found behind the machine's display, as shown below:
Step 5: Card Reader Mounting
The reader mounts over the card slot:
If there are no holes above and below the card slot, you will need to drill holes into the machine to mount the reader, then proceed to secure the reader to the machine using the nuts
Step 6: Activate the Card Reader
Activate the Card Reader using the Activation Card for this specific location:
Note: you MUST use the Activation Card for THIS SPECIFIC LOCATION,
or else the card reader will not appear on the LaundroPortal for this location.
This will activate the reader and programs the reader with the location's specific Support and Location IDs.
The Card Reader will then automatically connect to VAC01's wireless network and once connected, will be visible on the LaundroPortal where you can configure it's vend prices.
Setting Vend Pricing
This is set on the machine itself, not through the card system. The Card Reader will grab the updated vend prices directly from the machine when it boots up.
