How do refunds work?

Whether in store, online or using a Laybuy Card, refunds are always the same.

We understand that sometimes orders are cancelled or returned, and require a refund. It’s easy to get your funds back, and your Laybuy account updated to reflect your refund.

Your Laybuy order will be immediately updated when a retailer issues a refund. If the order hasn’t been updated on your account, it is worth double-checking with the retailer to make sure that they have processed this. Depending on how far through your payments you are, a couple of things can happen when refunds are applied.

Full Refund

If you are receiving a full refund, any paid instalments will be refunded back to the bank card used for that order, and any pending/unpaid instalments will be cancelled.

Partial Refund

If you are only receiving a refund for part of your order, and you have pending/unpaid instalments on the order, these will be cancelled first. Refunds are processed to the latest instalment back. So if you place an order for $60.00, have paid the first 3 instalments, and are due a $20.00 refund, you will still need to pay the 4th instalment. The last two instalments, however, will be cancelled. If the refund is worth more than what is left on the order, the difference will be refunded back to you.

For Laybuy card orders, we can't always link this back to the original order so you'll see that you have a refund pending in your Laybuy account. All you'll need to do is assign the refund to the available order and the same process as above will be completed.
