Marketing Links

Marketing Links help you understand where your registrations are coming from by adding tracking parameters to your event and ticket pages. Use these links for your campaigns and channels to measure performance and optimize your marketing efforts.

What's changed from Preferred Links?

Marketing Links replaces the previous Preferred Links page with enhanced tracking capabilities and better organization. The main changes include:

  • Renamed and reorganized: The page is now called Marketing Links and focuses specifically on tracking campaign performance

  • Pre-generated links: We automatically create tracking links for common channels (website, Facebook, Instagram, and email) for both your Event Page and Ticket Selection page

  • Custom campaign builder: Create additional links for specific campaigns like Early Bird promotions or price rises

  • QR code generation: Every link now comes with a downloadable QR code for offline marketing

  • Preview links moved: Unlisted Preview links (used to preview unpublished events) are now accessed through the Preview panel instead - read more.

How it works

Marketing Links use UTM parameters embedded in your URLs to track where visitors come from. When someone clicks a link with these parameters, we capture the source, medium, and campaign information, giving you detailed insights into which channels drive the most registrations.

All links direct visitors to either your Event Page (where they can read details before registering) or directly to Ticket Selection (for streamlined checkout).

Accessing Marketing Links

Navigate to your event dashboard and select Marketing Links from the left sidebar:

Pre-generated links

You'll find eight pre-generated links ready to use immediately:

General - Event Page

  • Website (Organic)

  • Facebook (Social)

  • Instagram (Social)

  • Email

General - Ticket Selection

  • Website (Organic)

  • Facebook (Social)

  • Instagram (Social)

  • Email

Each link includes appropriate UTM parameters for the channel and can be copied or downloaded as a QR code with one click.

Important: Unlisted events

If your event is currently unlisted, you'll see a warning that links aren't live yet. You can still prepare and share these links, but they won't be accessible until you launch your event. Once launched, all links become active automatically.

Creating custom campaign links

For specific marketing campaigns, create custom tracking links to measure their individual performance.

  1. Click Create campaign links in the top right

  2. Enter your campaign name (e.g., "Early Bird", "Last Chance", "Partner Promotion")

  3. Choose your destination:

    • Event page: Customers read the listing before registering

    • Ticket selection: Customers land directly on checkout

  4. Select channels to track by choosing a Source and Medium

  5. Click Add to include the channel in your campaign

  6. Repeat to add multiple channels

  7. Click Confirm to generate your links

All links and QR codes for your campaign will be generated instantly and appear in the Marketing Links table.

Using your links in your marketing

Copying links

Click the Copy button next to any link to copy it to your clipboard, ready to paste into social media posts, emails, or website content.

QR codes

Click View next to any link to see and download its QR code. QR codes are clearly labeled with the campaign name, channel, and destination to prevent mix-ups. Use these for:

  • Print advertisements

  • Event posters and flyers

  • Physical signage

  • Race bibs and materials

Seeing all links in the Marketing Links table

The Marketing Links table shows all your tracking links organized by campaign. Each row displays:

  • Campaign: The campaign name and destination

  • Source: Where traffic originates (eg. Website, Facebook, Instagram, Email)

  • Medium: The channel type (eg. Organic, Social, Email, or custom)

  • Destination: Event page or Ticket Selection

  • URL: The full tracking link

  • QR Code: Quick access to view and download

  • Created at: When the link was generated

Use the search bar to find specific campaigns or filter by Campaign, Source, or Destination.

You can also Export all links to a CSV:

Tracking performance

Once visitors start using your marketing links, track their performance in the Marketing analytics dashboard (under Data & Insights). You'll see:

  • Which channels drive the most traffic

  • Conversion rates by source and medium

  • Campaign comparison data

  • Registration attribution

What's changed: accessing Unlisted Preview links

Preview links for unlisted events have moved to make the Marketing Links page focus specifically on tracking. To access your preview link:

  1. Ensure your event status is Unlisted

  2. Click Preview at the top of your event dashboard

  3. Press 'Share' from the top of the Preview panel to access your preview links.

Preview links allow you to share your event page before launch for review purposes, but they don't include tracking parameters since they're not intended for marketing use.

Best practices for marketing links

  • Use descriptive campaign names: Make it easy to identify campaigns later (e.g., "Early Bird - March" rather than just "Campaign 1")

  • Create campaigns for key moments: Set up specific tracking for Early Bird periods, price rises, partner promotions, or flash sales

  • Match channels to your strategy: If you're running paid ads on Facebook, create a custom campaign with Source: "Facebook" and Medium: "Paid" to distinguish it from organic social posts

  • Download QR codes in advance: Generate and save QR codes before sending materials to print

  • Review regularly: Check your link performance weekly to understand which channels work best for your audience
