If you choose to turn this feature on, participants will be able to turn an entry for one of your events into 'credits', which they can then use to:
Transfer an existing race entry into credit for another of your events, and/or
Transfer an existing race entry to another person.
They can do this from their Manage Booking page, which they can access from the 'Manage Booking' button in their confirmation email. This feature is entirely self serve, so once you've set the rules participants can do it themselves.
You can also decide:
The deadline before the event when this option becomes unavailable to participants
When/if the transfer credits expire
Whether you want to charge participants a fee for transferring.
If you decide to charge a fee, it will be deducted from the amount of credit the participant receives. You can track credits with the Transfer Credit Page which can be found in Marketing > Credits and in the Origin column, you'll see "Transferred from [Event Name]".
The Transfer to Credit option will be disabled on the participant's Manage Booking page if any of the following is true: The participant has booked a ballot, application, charity or incomplete payment plan ticket. Additionally, the transfer to credit option will be disabled if the participant’s entry was given to them by a partner (either by you, a corporation, charity or other business).
FAQs
Do I have to use participant self transfers?
No, this tool is off by default, so you can choose whether you want to enable it for your participants.
Can I limit transfers to just a few of my events?
Not yet, we're working on this. If you turn this on participants will be able to use their credit towards any event in your portfolio.
Can a participant use their transfer credits for another organiser's event?
No, participants will only be able to transfer themselves to another of your events
How do credits work?
When a participant transfers their entry, they'll receive a discount for the amount they originally paid, which they can then use to enter another of your events. If you choose to charge them an admin fee, this will be deducted from the credit they receive.
How will I know when a participant has transferred their entry?
Participants will appear in your start-list with a 'transferred to credit' status, and you'll also be able to view them in your Transfer Credit Page (click on Growth on the topbar, then Transfer Credits on the left hand side).
