TL;DR: LearnSpark automatically tracks your teaching hours and student attendance as you complete lessons and log activities to help you meet local rules.
Many regions require families to prove that students are spending enough time on their schoolwork. This is often called "compliance hours" or "attendance tracking." LearnSpark makes this easy by doing the hard work for you every time you teach.
How Hours are Tracked
Whenever you complete a Lesson or a Project session, LearnSpark records the time. This time is automatically added to your student's Compliance Log.
SparkAI uses information from your planned lessons to calculate how long each subject took. If you finish a lesson early or it runs long, you can change the final time before saving. This keeps your records 100% accurate.
π‘ Good to know: You do not need a separate stopwatch! The platform uses your scheduled lesson length as the default, but you can always edit it.
Logging Manual Attendance
Not all learning happens at a desk. For field trips, sports, or reading time, you can use the Log Activity tool on your Dashboard.
Click the Log Activity button on your Dashboard.
Select the Student (or students) who participated.
Enter the Duration in hours and minutes.
Add a short note about what was learned.
Click Save to add these hours to your records.
Great job! By logging these real-world moments, you are building a complete picture of your student's hard work.
Viewing Your Compliance Reports
To see your total hours for the week, month, or year, go to the Performance tab. Here, you can find a breakdown of hours spent on each subject.
If your local authority needs a copy of these records, use the Export feature. This lets you download a professional PDF or CSV file. This report shows exactly what your students have finished so you can stay compliant without the stress.
β οΈ Heads up: Make sure to finish your lessons officially by clicking Complete Lesson. If a lesson stays "In Progress," those hours may not show up in your final reports.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to track hours for every single subject?
This depends on your local laws! Most users track core subjects like Math and English, but SparkAI can track any subject you have added to your curriculum.
Can I edit hours for a lesson I finished yesterday?
Yes! You can go to the Activity Log in the student's profile. Find the entry you want to change and click Edit to update the time.
What counts as an "Attendance Day"?
LearnSpark marks a day as an attendance day if at least one lesson or activity is completed and logged for that student on that date.
Does tracking hours use SparkAI credits?
Simply recording hours does not use credits. However, SparkAI uses credits when it analyzes those logs to update Mastery Profiles, perform Gap Analysis, or generate Compliance Reports.
