Updated this week

TL;DR: Use Quick Activities to turn any local outing into a custom learning adventure. SparkAI matches trips to your child's interests and creates a full plan with packing lists and safety tips.

The Quick Activity function is perfect for days when you want a meaningful outing right now. Whether it is a stroll to a local park or a visit to a museum, SparkAI helps you turn the trip into a great learning experience. It saves you time by skipping the long Google searches and focusing on your family's specific values.

⚠️ Heads up: This feature uses the Current Location set in your profile. Go to Settings to make sure your location is up to date so SparkAI finds activities near you!

How to Plan a Quick Activity

Ready to head out? Follow these simple steps to get a plan from SparkAI:

  1. Go to the Adventures page from your sidebar.

  2. Check the Discover tab. Here, SparkAI groups activities "most likely to be ideal" for your family at the top of the list.

  3. Click the Quick Activity button to start a specific plan.

  4. Enter what you are looking for, like "nature," "adventure," or "local history."

  5. Schedule your trip to generate a full plan. This includes an activity plan, food suggestions, a packing list, and safety tips.

💡 Good to know: Your activity list stays fresh! SparkAI refreshes your options on an intelligent schedule based on the seasons and how long you are staying in an area.

Turning Outings into Learning Experiences

You can make any outing an official "school" moment. When you are scheduling your activity, look for the Learning Activity checkbox.

When you select this, SparkAI tailors the activity to your child's specific educational goals. You will see:

  • Educational Talking Points: Interesting facts to talk about while you explore.

  • Inquiry Prompts: Helpful questions to ask your kids to get them thinking.

  • Actionable Learning: Specific suggestions on what to DO during the activity to meet learning goals.

Logging and Mastery Tracking

These activities do more than just fill an afternoon. They also count toward your student's progress! Once you finish your outing, head to your Dashboard.

Use the Log Activity button to record what you did. This information helps update the student's mastery skills, building a record of real-world learning.

This ensures that your child's skills are updated even when you aren't doing a formal lesson. Great job—you're ready to explore!
