Survey templates

Survey themes form the basis for the survey templates. When the themes are ready, you can start creating a survey template. You create a survey template under the Templates tab. This is also your overview page with all templates you have created for previously sent surveys. A template can be used both for a traditional survey and for a pulse survey.

Creating a survey template

When you want to create a template, click the 'Create New' button. You will then enter a focus mode where you can create the template.

You can choose multiple languages for a template. You select the languages you want to create the template in by clicking on the flags at the top of the screen. Besides being able to select multiple languages, you can also preview the template when creating it. You can also delete a template, save it as a draft, or publish it. There is also a built-in autosave that works immediately. So if you are working on a template and (accidentally) click away, what you already had on paper is saved as a draft and you can simply continue where you left off.

Note: Once a template is published, it will be available to use for a survey.

Creating a template is divided into three steps. In step one, you are going to give the template a name and an introduction for the participants.

In step two you will add questions. You can either add a new question directly to the template or import questions.

Note: When creating a new question in templates, you will always be required to link the question to a theme. This is because themes are the basis of reporting. If a question would not have a theme, the question will therefore not appear in the reporting either.

When importing questions to the template, you will see the different themes appear. You can add all questions linked to a theme directly to the template. You can also open a theme using the 'Show all questions' button and then choose to add only a selection of questions from a certain theme to your survey template.

In the last step of creating a template, you can determine how heavily a theme should weigh in the reporting. If you do not change anything in this step, all themes will have the same weight. If you check 'Customise weight per theme', you can indicate per theme how much weight it should have in the average score.

Edit a template

You can edit a template by opening the template and clicking on 'Edit' in the top right-hand corner. You can also edit the template using the 3 dots to the right of the template on the overview page.

Note: When you adjust the number of questions in a template, this will not affect a running traditional survey. The adjustment will only be triggered when creating a new traditional survey with this template. In a Pulse survey, the change in number of questions in the template will be implemented in the next pulse that is sent out.

Delete a template

Besides editing a template, you also have the option to delete a template. You do this by opening the template and clicking on 'Delete' in the top right-hand corner. You can also delete the template using the 3 dots to the right of the template on the overview page.

Note: When you delete a template, it does not affect published traditional surveys. Deleting a template in a Pulse survey does have an impact. With a Pulse survey, we look at the template at that time with every new pulse. When you delete a template, the Pulse survey no longer has a template available. If you want to continue the Pulse survey, you will first have to select a new template.
