Overview of your personal goals

When you log into Learned on your phone, you can go to the overview page of your goals via the menu at the bottom left. Here you will find all your active personal goals.

❗️Note: The mobile app only shows your personal goals. If you also are a owner of a team and/or organisation goal, you will only see those goals in the overview of your goals on the computer.

Furthermore, from the overview page on your phone, you can easily find a goal using the sort, filter and search function, update the progress of your goal, or set up a new goal. In this article, we will look at both setting up a goal via your phone and updating the progress of one of your goals.

Creating a goal

When you want to set up a goal via your phone, press the '+ Goal' button at the bottom right. A screen will open where you can start formulating your goal. You have to go through two steps, just as when you create a goal via the computer:

  1. Goal details

  2. Goal progress

Step 1: Goal details

In the first step, you will set your goal. What are you going to work on in the coming period? This could be a project, a certain target you have to meet, but it could also be a certain skill you want to develop further.

❗️Note: When setting up a goal via your phone, we do not provide Goal suggestions using AI. Do you want to make use of this? Then you will have to set up your goal via computer.

πŸ“š Read this article for more information on goal suggestions.

You also determine the privacy setting for your goal. You have a choice of:

  • Private: Only visible for yourself and your coach.

  • Team: Visible for yourself, your coach and your team members.

  • Public: Visible for everybody in the organisation.

You also set a deadline for when you want to achieve your goal. Setting a deadline is optional; you may also want to work on a goal that is ongoing for a longer period.

Advanced settings

Under Advanced Settings, you have the option to further explain your goal: Why do you want to work on this goal and what result do you expect to achieve?

You can also set who is allowed to edit your goal here. By default, as owner of the goal, you can also edit your goal. Your coach can also edit and add to your goal. You can turn this on or off with the slider buttons.

Step 2: Goal progress

In this step, you can decide how you want to work on the goal. You have four options to track the progress of your goal:

  • Average of activities: When you choose Average of activities, you can create 1 or more activities. This will cut your goal into smaller pieces to keep it manageable for you. Add custom activities. By completing all activities you will eventually reach your goal.

  • Average of contributing goals: If you choose Average of contributing goals option, your goal's progress will be fully influenced by the underlying goals linked to your goal. The goal's progress is then updated by updating underlying linked goals.

  • Done or not done: With this option, you immediately complete the goal when it is achieved. You have the option of adding different activities when you choose 'Done or not done' to break the goal into smaller pieces for yourself. You will then have to manually update both the progress of the activities and the progress of your goal.

  • Metrics: If you choose to track your goal using a measurement method, you have a choice of: Currency, Number or Percentage.

For the metrics method, set a start value and a desired end value. Again, you have the option of adding activities to your goal. Do this to make your goal concrete with logical steps that you have to perform and/or achieve in a certain order. Again, you should update the progress of the activities and the progress of the goal separately here.

Adding custom activities

You can add Custom activities to the following methods to track your goal progress:

  • Average of activities

  • Done or not done

  • Metrics

When you add a Custom activity to the goal, the way of measurement is by default Done or Not done. If you want to track the Custom activity by numbers, currency or percentage, you can adjust this under the Custom activity's Advanced settings.

Publishing your goal

When you have set up your goal, you can finalise your goal via the 'Publish' button at the bottom right. Your goal will then appear on the overview page where you can also find your other goals. From this page you can also start updating the progress of your goal.

❗️Note: If you are creating a goal and you click on the 'X'-button top left, you have the option to save your goal as a draft, or delete your draft. When you delete your draft, everything you have then entered will also be deleted.

Updating the progress of your goal

After setting your goal, you can start working on it. When you have made progress on the goal, you can update your progress via the app. Go to the overview page of your goals, click on the goal you have made progress on and update what you have done via the Update button. The status of your goal will automatically change from 'To do' to 'In progress'.

πŸ’‘ If you work with your goal with 'Average of activities', the progress of your goal will be updated automatically when you update the progress of one of your activities. To update the progress of one of your activities click on the 'Update' button of the activity.

If you scroll further down in your goal, you will find two tabs at the bottom. On the Settings tab, you will find some more details of your goal, e.g. what the goal's privacy setting is, who the goal's editors are and whether the goal is linked to one of your skills.

The second tab shows an overview of all feedback you have received on your goal. If you would like to receive feedback on the goal of one of your colleagues, you can also do so via this tab using the '+' button at the bottom right.

❗️Note: You will only see the feedback tab if the organisation has the Feedback module enabled. If this is not the case, you cannot directly request feedback on your goal either.

Editing your goal

If you want to edit your goals, you can also do so via your phone. Go to your goals overview page, click the goal you want to edit and then click the 'Edit' button. Adjust what you want in the goal and then click Update to save your changes.
