[New] How to View Reports (Speed)

This article explains how to use the Speed tab in the Reports feature of the Matter Management module.

Requirements

User type:

  • Matter Management: Pro

What you can do in the Speed tab

1. Switch filters and display settings (applies to the entire tab)

a: Select user

Filter the data to show only specific users.

b: Set a time period

Choose a time period (by month) to view data. By default, the last 6 months are shown.

* You can select up to 1 year at a time.

2. Analyze response & completion time (median days)

a: What’s included

Shows matters created each month.

You can see trends in Time to completion and First response, as well as totals for the selected period.

* Days include weekends and holidays.

b: First response

Shows the median time (in days) from matter creation to the first response.

Includes all matters that have at least one response, regardless of status.

The first response is the earliest of the following messages posted after the matter is created:

  • An email sent to the requester

  • A Slack message (if integrated)

  • A public message in the matter timeline within LegalOn (if the requester has a Matter Management license)

* Does not include private timeline messages in LegalOn or AI-generated initial replies.

c: Time to completion

Shows the median time (in days) from matter creation to completion.

Only matters that are currently marked as Completed are included.

If a matter has been marked as Completed more than once, the most recent completion time is used.

d: Year-over-year comparison

Check Show previous year to compare this period with the same time last year and see if response time has improved or slowed down.

e: View details

Click a month in the chart or table to open a list of matters from that month in a new tab.

3. Analyze time in each status

a: What’s included

Shows the median time spent in each status for completed matters where the user is the main assignee.

Includes matters created within the selected period.

The total shown is calculated by adding the median time for each status.

b: Breakdown by user

See how much time each user spends in each status.

Helps you spot which stages are taking longer and identify bottlenecks in the workflow.

c: View user performance

Click a user’s name to see their details on the right.

You can view monthly response time for matters where the selected user is the main assignee.

4. Analyze completed matters by assignee

a: What’s included and what you can see

Includes matters created within the selected period where the user is the main assignee.

You can view Time to completion and First response by month, as well as totals for the selected period.

Use this to understand each user’s speed trends and identify where support or improvement may be needed.

For metric definitions and how they’re calculated, see:

“2. Analyze Matter response time (median days) – b: First response, c: Time to completion”

* First responses are attributed to the main assignees, regardless of who sent them.

b: View details

Click a month in the chart or table to open a list of that user’s matters from that month in a new tab.

How to Change the View

You can sort, filter, and switch how the data is displayed.
