The LiGo Chrome extension allows you to create personalized comment style packs that help you maintain a consistent voice when engaging on LinkedIn. This guide shows you how to set up custom comment styles that sound authentically like you.

Good news: If you're new to LiGo and don't have any comment styles configured, the platform will automatically guide you through an onboarding process when you visit the Style Preferences page. This helps you set up your first style quickly with curated examples from our repository.

What You'll Learn

  • How to access the Style Preferences section

  • Creating & naming custom comment styles

  • Adding example comments to train the AI

  • Setting preferred style features

  • Managing multiple comment styles

How to Access Style Preferences

Open the Style Preference page located in your sidebard's Engage section

Alternatively, you can directly do it through the chrome extension by clicking on the '+' in the Choose Style section

Automatic Onboarding for New Users

If you don't have any comment styles configured yet, LiGo will automatically detect this when you visit the Style Preferences page and guide you through a simple onboarding process:

1. Name Your Style:

You'll first be asked to give your comment style a descriptive name (ex: "Professional Engagement" or "Casual Networking"). Don't worry, you can change this later.

2. Choose Example Comments:

You'll see a curated library of 100+ example comments from our repository.

  • Browse through different comment styles and tones.

  • Select up to 10 comments that sound like how you would naturally write.

  • These examples help LiGo understand your preferred tonality and approach.

3. Add Custom Examples (Optional):

You can also add your own custom comments that you've written in the past.

  • Use actual comments you've made on LinkedIn that represent your authentic voice.

  • This helps fine-tune the AI to match your specific writing patterns.

4. Save Your Style:

Once you've selected your examples, your new comment style will be saved and ready to use.

Why This Matters:

Your commenting style might be different across platforms, so this onboarding process helps LiGo understand the specific tone and approach you want to use for LinkedIn engagement.

5. Creating Additional Styles

To create additional comment styles, click on the +Add Style option

Pro Tip: Create different styles for different engagement contexts. For example, you might want a more formal style when engaging with industry thought leaders and a more conversational style when interacting with your regular network.

Customizing Style Features

For each style, you can toggle specific features:

Include Emojis

  • Toggle ON to allow the AI to include appropriate emojis in generated comments

  • Toggle OFF for a more formal, text-only approach

Include Hashtags

  • Toggle ON to incorporate relevant hashtags in your comments

  • Toggle OFF for cleaner comments without hashtags

Note: These toggles help shape the overall feel of your generated comments while maintaining your voice & style.

Adding Example Comments

The key to creating an effective style is providing good examples.

  1. Click + Add Example within your style card.

  2. In the dialog box, enter your example comment or paste one from your LinkedIn history - Click Add to save the example

What Makes a Good Example?

  • Examples that reflect your authentic voice and tone

  • Comments showcasing your typical sentence structure and vocabulary

  • Different engagement types (questions, praise, thoughtful additions, etc.)

  • Variety in length and complexity

Pro Tip: Add at least 3-5 examples for each style to give the AI enough context to understand your preferred approach.

Managing Example Comments

After adding examples, you can:

  • Edit/Delete any example by clicking the pencil/trash icon

  • Add more examples as needed

Note: The AI improves its understanding of your style with each example, so consider adding more examples over time, especially if you find the generated comments aren't quite matching your voice.

Setting a Default Style

To make a particular style your go-to option:

  1. Click Make it default on the style card you want to use most often

  2. The selected style will be used automatically when generating comments

You can change your default style at any time by selecting "Make it default" on a different style card.

Using Multiple Styles

You can create multiple comment styles for different contexts:

  • Professional style for industry discussions

  • Casual style for connections and peers

  • Humorous style for lighter interactions

  • Inquisitive style focused on asking thoughtful questions

Switch between styles when generating comments by selecting the appropriate style in the extension interface.

Style Organization Tips

For effective style management:

  1. Name styles clearly: Use descriptive names that remind you of the style's purpose.

  2. Limit the number of styles: Focus on 2-3 core styles for different contexts

  3. Refine over time: Add new examples to styles as you create comments you're particularly satisfied with.

  4. Review periodically: Occasionally check if your styles still match your current voice and preferences.

Style Performance Tips

To get the most authentic comments:

  • Include diverse examples: Add examples showing different tones, lengths, and purposes

  • Be authentic: Use your actual past comments rather than aspirational ones

  • Update periodically: As your professional voice evolves, update your style examples

  • Test and refine: Try different combinations of examples to find what generates the most authentic results

Common Questions

Q: How many examples should I include in each style?

For best results, add at least 3-5 example comments per style. Including a mix of comment types such as praise, questions, or thoughtful additions. It helps the AI better understand your tone, structure, and vocabulary. You can always add more examples later to further refine the output.

Q: Can I use comments I've made on other platforms as examples?

Yes, but LinkedIn comments often have a specific professional tone. For best results, use actual comments you've made on LinkedIn.

Q: Can I create and use multiple comment styles?

Yes. You can create multiple styles for different engagement contexts, such as professional, casual, or humorous interactions. When generating comments, simply select the style you want to use in the extension. You can also set one style as your default and change it anytime.

Q: How do I know if my style is working well?

Generated comments should sound like you wrote them. If they feel off or use phrases you wouldn't, add more examples or modify existing ones.

Q: How do emojis and hashtags affect my comment style?

Each style includes toggles for emojis and hashtags. Turning these on allows LiGo to include them in generated comments, while turning them off results in a more formal, text-only style. These settings help shape the overall feel of your comments without changing your core voice.

Q: Can I share my style with team members?

Currently, styles are user-specific. For teams managing multiple LinkedIn accounts, each user should create their own styles.
