The header (also called the hero section) is the first thing visitors see when they open your Portal. It's prime real estate for setting the tone, establishing your brand, and welcoming people to your content.

What you can customize

The Portal header sits at the top of every Portal and can include:

  • Background image or color - Set the visual tone

  • Portal title - The main heading visitors see

  • Description text - A brief introduction or welcome message

  • Logo or avatar - Your brand mark

Edit the header

  1. Open your Portal

  2. Click Configure in the top right

  3. Adjust your header settings:

    • Upload a background image or choose a color

    • Update the title and description text

    • Customize logo placement and sizing

  4. Preview your changes

  5. Click Save

Changes appear immediately to visitors.

Header design strategies

Make a bold first impression Use a striking background image that represents your brand or the Portal's purpose. High-contrast images work best for readability.

Keep it clean and minimal A solid color background with clear typography can be more effective than a busy image—especially if your Portal content is complex.

Match your brand Use colors, fonts, and imagery consistent with your brand guidelines and Portal theme.

Best practices

Choose readable backgrounds If using an image, ensure text remains legible. Consider adding a dark overlay or gradient to improve contrast.

Write a welcoming description Use 1-2 sentences to explain what visitors will find:

  • "Everything you need to represent the Acme brand"

  • "Product launch materials for the Spring 2024 collection"

  • "Partner resources—updated monthly"

Keep it updated Refresh your header for seasonal campaigns, product launches, or major updates to signal fresh content.

Consider your audience Internal team Portals can be straightforward and functional. External partner or client Portals should feel polished and professional.

Examples that work

  • Background: Branded gradient in company colors

  • Title: "Acme Brand Hub"

  • Description: "The complete brand system for all teams and partners"

  • Background: Hero shot of the new product

  • Title: "Product X Launch—March 2024"

  • Description: "Marketing assets, messaging, and sales tools"
