What is a trip purpose?
When you log a trip, you are asked for the trip purpose, e.g. from A to B, to/from work, for fun/fitness etc.
Why does trip purpose matter?
Ride, Walk, Wheel Week focuses on transport trips, meaning journeys that serve a purpose beyond exercise or leisure. To ensure your trips count, make sure your purpose is set correctly to transport when logging them.
If you need to update your trip purpose, follow these steps:
How to Change Your Trip Purpose
There are two ways to update the purpose of a logged ride:
1. Edit Purpose from the Trips List
Long-press on a Trip to open the purpose menu.
Select the appropriate trip purpose.
2. Edit Purpose from the Ride Details Page
Open your trips details.
Long-press on the current trip purpose (found in the lower-left corner).
Choose your new trip purpose from the list.
Does the app remember my trip purpose?
Yes! The app will automatically apply your most recent trip purpose to future rides until you manually change it.
How does the default trip purpose work?
For shorter trips, the app automatically assigns a purpose based on time and distance:
Commuting to/from work:
If your ride is less than 6 miles and occurs between:
6:00–9:30 AM, Monday–Friday
4:00–6:30 PM, Monday–Friday
The purpose will default to "transport to/from work."
Other transport trips:
If your ride is less than 3 miles, it will default to "transport to/from other destination" during these times:
Anytime on weekends
9:30 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday
6:30 PM–7:30 AM, Monday–Friday
