Creating backup jobs let you protect your VPS automatically without manual work.

You choose when backups run, how they are compressed, and if you want email notifications. Once set, LumaDock handles the rest.

You can also create manual backups anytime, but backup jobs are the safest way to ensure your data is always covered.

Where to find backup jobs

Open your VPS management page in the LumaDock client area. This is where all server level features live, including backups.

Step 1 – Open your VPS management page

Log in to your LumaDock client area and go to My Products and Services. Find your VPS and click Manage.

Step 2 – Open Backup Jobs

In the left sidebar, click Backup Jobs under the Backups section.

This page shows all scheduled backup jobs for the VPS.

If no jobs exist yet, the list will be empty.

Creating a new backup job

Backup jobs define when backups run and how they are stored.

Step 3 – Create a new job

Click the Create Backup Job button in the top right corner.

A configuration window will open with several options.

Step 4 – Configure the backup schedule

Set the Start Time to choose when the backup runs. Select the Day of Week to define how often it runs.

Backups run automatically at the selected time without any action required from you.

Step 5 – Choose compression and mode

Select a Compression Type. ZSTD is recommended as it offers a good balance of speed and compression.

Backup Mode is set to Snapshot. This creates a full VPS snapshot at the scheduled time.

Step 6 – Enable email notifications

Turn on Email Notification if you want to receive an email after each backup job runs. This helps you confirm backups complete successfully.

Step 7 – Confirm the backup job

Click Confirm to save the job.

It will now appear in the Backup Jobs list with its schedule and settings.

Backup rotation behavior

Each VPS plan includes a backup rotation limit. When the limit is reached, the oldest backup is automatically replaced by a new one.

This ensures storage stays within plan limits while keeping recent backups available.

Managing existing backup jobs

From the Backup Jobs list, you can edit or delete jobs at any time. Changes apply to future runs only and do not affect existing backups.

If your backup needs change, updating the schedule is quick and safe.

Regular scheduled backups are one of the simplest ways to avoid data loss.

Once configured, they quietly run in the background and give you peace of mind if something goes wrong.
