Audience: Students
Your Lumion Student Portal shows your attendance, your clock hours, and your check-in PIN. This guide explains where to find each of those and how to fix issues if something doesn't look right.
Find your attendance
Log into your Student Portal and open the Education tab from the bottom navigation (or the top nav on desktop).
You'll see four cards at the top:
Hours Attended — the total clock hours you've earned so far.
Schedule comparison — "X hrs behind / ahead of schedule" against what you're expected to have at this point in the program.
Attendance Rate — your overall attendance percentage, with an arrow showing whether it's trending up or down.
Last Session — the date of your most recent attended session.
Below the cards, you'll see:
Upcoming Sessions — the next seven days of scheduled classes. Each card shows the date, time, course, and location (in-person or online — if online, the link is right there).
Attendance History — a list of every session, with a status badge (Present / Absent / Excused / Late).
Click Export Report to download your full attendance record as a PDF or CSV. Useful for VA benefits, financial aid, or just your own records.
Your Attendance PIN
If your school uses PIN-based check-in (a kiosk or tablet at the door of class), you'll have an Attendance PIN. To see it:
Open the Education tab.
Scroll to Attendance PIN.
Click the eye icon to reveal your PIN.
The PIN is hidden behind dots by default so it's not visible to anyone glancing at your screen.
If you ever need to change it (you suspect someone else knows it, or you just want a new one), click Reset PIN. The system generates a new one and confirms before saving.
Session reminders
You'll get a reminder via email and SMS before each scheduled session. The default reminder time is set by your school — usually 1 hour, 12 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours ahead.
To change your reminder preference or turn reminders off:
Open Settings > Notifications.
Find Session Reminders.
Pick a different window, or toggle reminders off.
Your school can set a default, but you can override it for yourself.
What attendance rate means
Your attendance rate is the percentage of expected sessions you've attended:
Attendance Rate = (Sessions Attended ÷ Sessions Expected) × 100
Excused absences count differently depending on your school's policy. Make-up hours can recover an absence — ask your instructor if you're not sure.
If you're falling behind, the schedule comparison card will say "X hrs behind schedule" in red — that's a heads-up to talk to your instructor or school success advisor.
FAQ
Why does my attendance not match my schedule?
Usually one of three things: a session was marked under a different date, a make-up hour wasn't logged yet, or your enrollment date didn't match the start of the cohort. Open the Attendance History and walk through the dates. If anything looks wrong, contact your school using the steps below.
Who do I contact about a missing day?
Use the Help icon (the question mark in the top-right of the portal). You can chat with Mia (our AI assistant), or use the school contact card at the bottom of the help screen to call or email your school directly.
Can I export my attendance for VA / financial aid purposes?
Yes — click Export Report in the Education tab. Choose PDF or CSV. The export includes every session with date, course, and status.
Can someone else see my Attendance PIN?
Only you and your school's admin staff can see your PIN. It's hidden behind dots in your portal unless you reveal it. If you've shared it accidentally, click Reset PIN to get a new one.
Why is my last session not showing yet?
Attendance is usually recorded by your instructor right after class. If it's been more than 24 hours and your most recent session isn't there, contact your school via the Help icon.
Do excused absences hurt my attendance rate?
It depends on your school's policy. Some schools count excused absences in the rate; others don't. Check your enrollment agreement or ask your school directly.
When to ask for help
If something looks wrong (a session is missing, a status is wrong, your PIN won't work at the kiosk):
Open the Help icon in the top-right of your portal.
Send Mia a message describing what's wrong — can answer common questions
