Create an attendance session

When you create a session, set the following:

  • Session name — name the session so it's easy to recognize.

  • Session type — choose the type, including a regular recurring session with start and end dates.

  • Start time — set when the session begins.

  • Expected hours — the hours students are expected to attend.

  • Days of week — the days the session runs.

  • Instructor (optional) — assign an instructor if you want.

Choose a trust level

The trust type controls how much a student has to do at the kiosk:

Trust type

What the student does

Basic trust

Assumes presence — no punch required

Partial trust

Requires a punch in

Zero trust

Requires a punch in and a punch out

Lunch clock-outs are still logged regardless of the trust level you choose.

Open the kiosk to students

Once your session is set up, open the kiosk so students can clock in and out.

Create student PINs

Students clock in and out with a PIN. You can create PINs two ways:

  • During the first punch in — a student can be given a PIN the first time they use the kiosk.

  • At admission (preferred) — set the PIN ahead of time from the student's contact record, in the Attendance section, so it's ready before their first session.

You can update a student's PIN later from the same place. Each PIN must be unique, so no two students share the same one.
