POS Terminals let your school accept in-person, card-present payments — at the front desk or at events and tie them to a student's account, with every transaction visible in Lumion alongside your online payments. Card data is handled by the payment processor. Lumion never stores card numbers.

Terminals are provided through Lumion as a hardware service — request a device and it's pre-provisioned before it ships. Supported models are the PAX A800 (countertop) and PAX A920 Pro (wireless touchscreen). Your institution is set up with a merchant account, and multi-campus schools can have a separate merchant per location. [Confirm ordering/fees with your account manager.]

Place the device in a Wi-Fi-accessible area and enter your network credentials — it needs Wi-Fi to activate and to receive automatic updates. Each terminal is registered with a model, serial number, and a friendly Device Name (e.g. "Admissions Desk," "Campus A") so you can tell them apart. You can create multiple terminals under one merchant and group them by location or department.

Confirm the terminal shows as online, start a sale, enter the amount, and have the customer present their card. Supported methods: chip (EMV), magnetic stripe, contactless / tap-to-pay, and mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay). Tag the payment to the student's account and the relevant charge so it reconciles correctly. If a payment can't be matched automatically, link it to the student afterward. You can cancel an in-progress transaction (card removed, timeout, user error) and retry. Refunds of completed in-person payments are handled in the Lumion dashboard.

In-person payments are tagged as POS transactions and appear in your payment logs and payouts alongside online payments. You can filter by device, date, user, or student, and monitor each terminal's status (online/offline, last sync, errors), rename it, or disable it.
