Opening the wizard
On the contract's Overview tab, click Create Schedule Change in the Quick Actions panel. The wizard has two steps: Choose change type, then Review & confirm — you always see the projected schedule before anything is committed.
The four types
Date Change
Move one or more specific payment due dates. Use this when a student's pay date has moved and one or two installments need to land differently. The rest of the schedule is untouched.
Bulk Schedule Shift
Reschedule all remaining payments to a new cadence or anchor. Use this when the whole rhythm needs to change — monthly to fortnightly, or every payment moving from the 1st to the 15th. It touches everything still outstanding.
Extension
Move one or more payments to the end of the schedule. Use this when a student can't make a payment now but can still pay the full amount — the payment moves to the back and the contract runs longer.
Start Date Change
Moves when the schedule begins. Only available before any money has been collected.
Picking between them
The question to ask is how much of the schedule needs to move:
• One or two dates, everything else stays → Date Change
• Every remaining payment, new rhythm → Bulk Schedule Shift
• They need to skip now and pay later → Extension
• Nothing has been paid yet and the whole plan starts on the wrong day → Start Date Change
If what the student actually needs is to owe less, none of these is right — a schedule change moves money around, it doesn't reduce it.
Why Start Date Change is greyed out
Once a single payment has been collected, the card is disabled and reads: "Start date is locked. A payment has already been collected on this contract."
This isn't a bug or a permission problem. Moving the start date after money has changed hands would misalign what the student has already paid against the schedule they signed. Use Bulk Schedule Shift instead — it achieves the same practical result for the payments still to come.
Always read step 2
The second step previews the new schedule before you submit. Check the final payment date and the number of remaining payments — an Extension in particular changes when the contract finishes, which is the part students query later.
