Why District Assignments Matter

Benefit

What It Means in Practice

Consistent assessment administration

CFAs, unit assessments, benchmarks, and screeners are administered uniformly across schools, grades, and classrooms — no variation by teacher or site.

Improved data quality

Centralized content, settings, and timing ensure results are comparable across the district.

Stronger data insights

Accurate, consistent data feeds directly into district dashboards for problem analysis, standards alignment, and progress monitoring.

Reduced teacher workload

Teachers no longer need to recreate district assessments, freeing them to focus on instruction while maintaining fidelity to district initiatives.

When to Use District Assignments

District-level assignment creation is best suited for:

  • Common Formative Assessments (CFAs)

  • Unit assessments

  • Benchmarks

  • Screeners

Best Practices

  • Communicate purpose, timing, and expectations to schools and teachers before pushing assignments out — especially when using the Now status, which makes assignments immediately visible without teacher action.

  • Align assignment settings deliberately to preserve assessment integrity.

  • Partner with your Customer Success team to ensure assignments support district goals and maximize data insights.

Note: District assignments appear as “From district” on teachers’ platforms, so make naming clear and intentional.
