District Assignment Roles & Permissions

Overview of District Assignment roles: who can create, edit, or view assignments and how access is limited by school.

Written by Stephanie

District assignments allow leaders to standardize assessments, improve data quality, and reduce teacher workload. Understanding who can create, edit, and view assignments ensures the right people have the right access — and that assessment consistency is maintained across schools.

School Access

Assignment Editor

Can create, edit, and delete district assignments. Can view all related assignment statistics.

Limited to assigned schools only.

Assignment Viewer

Can view district assignments and assignment statistics. Cannot create or modify assignments.

Limited to assigned schools only.

Note: Regardless of role, statistics are always scoped to the schools a user has been given access to.

Why Role-Based Access Matters

Scoping access by role and school ensures that:

  • Assessment content stays consistent — only authorized users can create or modify district assignments

  • Data remains reliable — statistics reflect only the schools a user is responsible for

  • There's no risk of accidental edits or access outside a user's scope
