Why Standards Tagging Matters

Many teachers like to create and upload their own problems tailored to their students’ needs. However, if these problems aren’t linked to standards, they can’t fully benefit from Magma’s other features, like viewing student progress, analyzing assignment performance, or making data-driven decisions. With standards tagging, every problem can contribute to class and student analytics. This helps you see exactly how your students are progressing across standards and skills.

How to Tag a Standard

  1. Open Magma Math and navigate to Create or Edit Problem.

  2. While editing the problem, select the Tag Standard option.

  3. Choose the appropriate standard from the list.

  4. Save the problem.

Once a standard is tagged, it will appear in assignment stats, allowing you to track student progress on that specific standard and make informed instructional decisions.
