Manual Teacher Setup for Magma Math

Step-by-step instructions for teachers to manually create accounts, set up classes, add students, and prepare devices for using Magma Math. This guide is focused on schools not using automatic rostering or Magma Import.

Create Teacher Account

  1. Go to: https://app.magmamath.com/signin

  2. Click “Create New Account”

3. Choose “Teacher”

4. Choose one between signing up with:

  • Google or Microsoft (SSO) → recommended for most NY schools

  • Email + Password → best option if SSO doesn’t work

5. Fill in your details and create your account

Tip: Use your school email address

Create Class

1. Go to the Students tab

2. Your class will automatically generate a 6-digit class code

Create Student Account

  1. Go to: https://students.magmamath.com/login

  2. Click on “Student”

3. Choose one between signing up with:

  • Google or Microsoft (SSO)

  • Email + Password

4. Type in the 6-digit class code.

Once code is entered, it will automatically join the user to the class

Optional: Faster Student Login with QR Codes

Want an even easier way for students to log in, especially for younger grades or shared devices?

You can enable QR code login:

  1. Go to your Students tab

  2. Click Settings

  3. Toggle Sign in with QR Code ON

4. Click Print to download student QR codes

Students can then:

Go to the login page

Click QR Code

Scan their code → instantly logged in

Before You Begin: Network and Device Setup

Before teachers or students create accounts, ask your school or district IT team to complete the following setup:

Allowlist Magma Math

Your IT team must allowlist the domains and services required for Magma Math in the district’s firewall, web filter, and network security tools.

The requirements include:

  • Magma Math application, API, and content-delivery domains

  • United States and Canadian regional domains

  • Google sign-in, translation, and text-to-speech services

  • GeoGebra and Desmos

  • Support and training services

  • Required ports and email allowlisting

To prevent access issues, IT should complete this step before teachers and students begin using Magma Math.

Prepare Student Devices

  • iPads: Install the latest version of the Magma Math app on all student devices before first use.

  • Laptops and Chromebooks: Students should use Google Chrome for the best experience. Other browsers may not fully support every feature.
